It's a big moment for 37 year old Euan Henderson as he takes his first managerial job since retiring from playing in 2036. The former Left Winger who is renowned as a legend for AFC Fylde has been given the opportunity to manage in the Northern Ireland Premiership taking over last season's Bluefin Sports Championship winners Dollingstown F.C
EH: I'm very pleased, it's an honour to get my first managers job in football. I met with Mr. Kelly (Wesley Kelly, Chairman) during June and we discussed plans for the football club. It's a small job, so far it's just myself and the chairman here. We have no coaching team as of yet and we are looking to grow the club together. The plans are for us to keep the club up first and foremost and build from there. I am a young manager and I have no managerial experience and the chairman is fully appreciative of that. I have an eagerness to learn and have a way that I would like to see the team play football. I'm due to meet the players shortly, it's good for them to see an end to the uncertainty and we can start planning for the forthcoming friendlies. I'm excited to get started and I really can't wait for the challenge ahead.
I could never find Zaragoza. Ended up dazed and confused in Argentina.Think I can get behind the Dollybirds.
Zaragoza was a tough ask. Some of those Fylde days were too magical to replicate. Time for a new legacy under Euan.
Really Ryan Reilly?
Ryan Reilly is a recommendation from new scout Sean Murray who watched Reilly playing in Scotland's League One for Airdrie. Euan Henderson and Duncan Ferguson are both delighted to welcome their first signing to the club.
EH: Sean came to me with some video clips of Ryan and we liked what he has done at youth team level and first team for Airdrie. He's quite a skilful player and looks a handful, Duncan said we should go for it also and we are happy to bring in our first signing for the club. Training has been going well, we are getting together three times a week currently and focusing quite a lot on fitness. Duncan has been brilliant already, he's not just taking a backseat on this and we are working as a well functioning team. We know it's going to be a tough first season especially being the promoted team but we are going to hold our own. The squad is small and we are asking a lot from the players but it gives the lads from the youth team a chance to step in throughout the season and we will be expecting them to play. The local community have been out and in support and they are fantastic, they've been supplying us with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and there's always a cup of tea on offer! We're enjoying it and it's great to have that community spirit about the place. Myself and Duncan are supporting local schools and businesses in different ways and that's what the club here is about.
Top signing, Muzza is a top fella
