Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

FYLDE MAKE MANAGERIAL DECISION

Barry Corr's time as temporary manager came to an end after a disappointing run in the league saw Fylde drop to 13th in the table falling adrift from the teams above. Corr did manage to keep Fylde in the F.A Cup beating Portsmouth 2-0 in the replay and earning a third round away trip to Swansea City. They also progressed to the EFL Trophy Third Round after beating Liverpool u23's 1-0. Dale Potter had a decision to make and with little movement in the managerial seat came up with the idea to give it to Vince Bytheway on a Player/Manager basis until the end of the season. "He knows the club, he's been here longer than anyone and he has expressed an interest in coaching so I thought why not? A lot of former players take this step and in the modern game it is tending to work out. I know this could completely backfire on me but Vince has the confidence of the players, he is the leader here and club captain. If it doesn't work out, we reassess at the end of the season." Bytheway is said to be delighted at the opportunity, he has spent thirteen years at the club and to take charge is huge for him. "I've always been a no nonsense player so I'm going to be a no nonsense manager. I don't take things too lightly and the players have to treat me like the boss. I might be harsh but I've always wanted to get rid of headphones and smart phones. I don't have one so I want the players to leave their gadgets in the car or on the coach, we don't want them as a distraction in the changing room. I want focus from all the players and we come as one. We arrive together and we go home together. I'll be changing the meal options in the canteen when I get chance." Bytheway's first game in charge comes on New Years Eve against Swansea in the F.A Cup.
