F.A Cup Fourth Round Replay
1st February 2040
The window closed in dramatic fashion, John Hutchinson was a very late deal and the paperwork was completed in enough time for Hutchinson to start the match against Birmingham City. What do we know about John Hutchinson? He started his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers making 8 Premier League appearances and 15 appearances in The Championship. He has had a couple of loan spells abroad that went quite well and has 19 U21 Irish caps with 5 goals. He is a sensible player who controls the game in the opposition half and is quite a skilful player with good use of both feet. The fans were devastated about Warren Hodge leaving but understand the money was too good to turn down and they wish their young starlet all the best for the future. Tommy Smyth was recovering from a minor injury which saw him sit this one out and Hudson was a few days off full fitness. As the game kicked off Jonathan Currie put in a hefty tackle on Matos knocking the ball out for a throw-in and the away supporters loved it. Hutchinson was involved immediately making nice passes, he's not even had a proper training session yet. Hutchinson found Hakeem on the left and he whipped it in first time, Thomas tracked the trajectory of the ball and held off his marker to head low into the bottom corner on 5 minutes! An excellent start for Fylde! Hutchinson was involved again playing a nice through ball for Thomas to hit first time but the keeper had it covered. Johnson played a great ball over the top of the defence and Thomas caught it nicely but the keeper saved again, he's really got to be finishing them. With a minute to go before the break Currie and Craddock were at a loss in communication leaving Craddock trying to retrieve a loose ball that Currie had left but Birmingham's Matos took control, passed it wide to Waldron, his cross was headed away by Preece but Sibanda took it on the edge of the box and his shot deflected off Jordan and fell to Glavin at the far post who tucked it away to equalise. John Hutchinson received a standing ovation from the away supporters as his debut came to an end on 67 minutes when he was replaced by Stuart Greene and Stewart Milby came on in the 76th minute for Jonathan Currie. The score was still level after 90 minutes and neither side look like scoring the winner. Extra time ensued. It was a big roll of the dice when Johnson went off and David Hill came on to join Thomas in attack. The first half was coming to an end when Craddock turned on the ball and passed inside to Miby who was urged to shoot from the supporters behind the goal and his rolling shot deceived the keeper and found it's way into the bottom left corner! Fylde take the lead in extra-time and have 15 minutes to see this out! Matos came down the right in the second half, crossed to the far post to Jenkins but what a stop from Breacker, Cunningham went for the follow-up and Breaxker saved again, he got another chance and buried it to make it 2-2! Is there a winner in this? Cunningham came down the left, Preece struggled with his pace, he sent the ball over the box and Matos caught it on the volley putting it into the top left corner, what a strike, 3-2 to Birmingham. John Smith brought the game to an end and it's Birmingham who advance to the Fifth Round were they will face Arsenal at The Emirates.
VB: It was a hell of a game and we gave it our best shot, I still think we need to take our chances in key areas and it's gutting to miss out on a lucrative away trip to Arsenal. That would have done wonders for our finances.

AFC Fylde vs Cheltenham Town
4th February 2040
The league was Fylde's remaining focus and improvement was needed in the division as they sat in 15th place. After going to extra-time in midweek, there was a few changses to the side. Aaron Hudson was given his debut at Right Back and Dale Alexander started at Left Back. Chris Moffatt came in on the left and Player/Manager Vince Bytheway started on the right. Hudson showed his crossing ability on 18 minutes when he put a delightful ball into the box for Chris Moffatt who headed just wide. Taylor took the corner for Cheltenham on 40 minutes and Watson went up for the header with Barrett but he handled inside the box and the referee gave the penalty. Watson stepped up and fired his side into the lead before half-time. A few minutes later Hutchinson held the ball up well on the edge of the opposition bos and back-heeled to Bytheway who took a nice touch and smashed it into the left corner! Great goal by the manager! He showed his team what he expects from them! Fylde made changes, Currie, Barrett and Thomas went off for Milby, Jordan and Hill. The game was coming into the last ten minutes and Cheltenham were on top, Joe Ward put a dangerous low ball across the box and Carl Thomas arrived to knock it in and potentially win the game for Cheltenham. Fylde could not get the ball up the pitch and were just not good enough today. There was no excuse for this kind of performance and Vince Bytheway just stood there bemused as to what had just happened.

Plymouth Argyle vs AFC Fylde
7th February 2040
Fylde's season had gone stale with the prospect of play-offs looking more and more unlikely. Bytheway made some changes for the trip and Neil Hakeem and Sean Jordan were back in the side. Tommy Smyth made his return to the team in midfield with Francis Johnson and Jonathan Currie was the surprise name leading the attack. Nick Kennerdale faced his old team playing for Plymouth on the left wing. Tommy Smyth intercepted the ball outside his box and charged forward playing a great ball over the top or Currie who should have made it 1-0 but it was saved. Plymouth were working for the opening and Fylde sat patiently waiting for the mistake to capitalise. It looked like the plan was to send the ball long for Currie. Hutchinson found Hudson coming down the right and Hudson sent a direct pass across the box which Bellairs picked up and slotted into the gaping net on 31 minutes! Fylde had to stop conceding silly fouls and Pymouth took advantage from the free-kick just outside the box on 48 minutes when Jason Orr kept his shot low and it crept in under the arm of Breacker, 1-1. It was bad news for Nick Kennerdale as he collided with Johnson and hands were raised which saw him pick up his second yellow card and was sent off for Plymouth. Fylde made a change, Hutchinson went off who wasn't having a great night and Thomas came on. Currie moved into midfield. Plymouth hit Fylde where it hurt from the set-piece and Mark Carr's ball into the box found the head of Smithj-Snelus who headed into the top right corner, 2-1 with 17 minutes to go. This is not good for Fylde. Fylde had a chance from the corner in the 94th minute, the whistle was due any second, Smyth sent the ball in well from the corner, Jordan headed across goal and Bellairs headed it over the line, 2-2! Fylde salvage a point! The game comes to an end but Fylde should have took advantage in ther second half.
VB: I sent the team out there to win today and even against ten men we found it hard. I know this squad and I know the talent here. We are massively underachieving and we definitely should not be where we are in the league.

NO PUNCHES PULLED WITH DANNY ROWE
I don't want to be too critical of Vince Bytheway's start as manager but I think he has come into the job too soon. We need a manager with experience because we have a very good squad and they are underperforming. Bytheway doesn't have the managerial ability yet to turn this poor form around. Henderson tried his best but I think the players stopped giving their all and the same is happening now under Bytheway. I would rather Potter kept Barry Corr in for the remainder of the season and made a decision in the summer. Our season is probably over now, we aren't going up and we aren't going down. Bytheway needs to use the remaining games to get the team onside and playing the way he wants to play. From what I've seen so far, he started with a possession based style but there were a few murmours from the supporters who want to see attacking football and he tried to give them that but it left us wide open. We need another quality Centre Back and we should have got that sorted in the January transfer window. We lost one of our future stars for a record transfer fee for the club but we only replaced him and didn't bring in anyone else. Bytheway has to be careful he doesn't isolate this squad because he has already changed players routines and made some impactful changes. This strategy usually only works with a seasoned professional, not a manager who is taking on his first job because I have been there myself and it can cause ructions when a player takes on the role of a manager. My message to Vince is, use the rest of the season to find your style because what you are currently doing is not working and we know these players have a lot more to give than what we are seeing.
Overlooking the drug dealing, match fixing and canteen theft from his playing days I think he'd be the right fit for the club.Rowe hits the mark again.
If Dirty Danny had his coaching badges, he'd have my support.
Seeing that all those qualities are in the club motto, I think he IS the club.Overlooking the drug dealing, match fixing and canteen theft from his playing days I think he'd be the right fit for the club.
I heard he just stuck a picture of him sat on We'regoingdownbytheway's chimney showing what we all think in this week's column.Danny Rowe's column will be venomous this week.
