Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

BYTHEWAY ON THE RUN-IN

"
Let's take it one game at a time, this is still inour hands and we will fight for a result at Bury. The lads are well aware of the situation we are in and they are up for the fight. I'm calling on the squad to pull together for the remaining four games and really give it their all. We are focused, determined and ready. We aren't thinking about the teams around us and what they might or might not do, that is irrelevant. We have our own games to take care of and we decide our own fate."

Bury vs AFC Fylde

Bytheway made changes, John Tomaszko was in for Sean Jordan at the back, Dale Alexander played in place of the suspended Neil Hakeem and Aaron Hudson was selected at right back. Currie and Johnson linked up again in midfield and the line was led by David Hill. Bytheway named himself as a substitute and said he would come on if the he saw fit. Johnson played the ball forward to Hill who had his back to goal, he held the ball up well and passed to Craddock who got it onto his left foot and went for the bottom corner but the keeper pulled off a great save to deny him. Davie passed the ball inside to Anderson who wasn't closed down and drove the shot low into the bottom corner on 32 minutes to give Bury the lead. This is not good for Fylde. The half-time whistle came and Fylde trudged down the tunnel, this could be a damaging defeat if they don't turn up in the second half. Tommy Smyth replaced John Hutchinson with just under 30 minutes to go. Nothing was heppening for Fylde and with ten minutes to go they made a double change, Hill and Craddock came off and Thomas and Bytheway went on. It was one of the worst Fylde performances of recent times and it got worse on 92 minutes when Tomaskso brought down Fryers inside the area and conceded a penalty. Glen Smith went left and Breacker guessed right but he couldn't stop it and Bury made it 2-0. The whistle was blown and the boos rang out in the away end. This was abysmal and Bytheway can't hide from this. Three games to go and Fylde are in serious trouble.

IS DUNCAN FERGUSON TO RETURN?

Rumours have caught speed tonight after the defeat to Bury that Bytheway will step down and Duncan Ferguson will manage Fylde for the last three games. Ferguson retired from football management three years ago but supported Euan Henderson as an Assistant Manager up until the end of last season. Apparently Duncan Ferguson, 68 has been approached by Dale Potter for a return until the end of the season.
