Dear members,
A very good suggestion has been made and accepted to start this new thread specifically for all discussion and debate about and comparisons between former Everton managers.

So whatever your thoughts - be they good or bad - on former Blues bosses, here's the venue.

One serious proviso though... Discussion, debate and opinion voiced in this thread does not refer to the current or standing manager as he/they in the future will have their own specific thread in the Everton Forum.

Look forward to some informative, educated, no doubt opinionated, lively and entertaining chat on the merits/debits of El Bob, Moyes, Royle, Smith, Walker, Harvey (be careful cos he is a God in my eyes), Kendall - all three eras - Lee, Bingham, Catterick and even further back into the annals of Everton history.

Did Mike Walker ever get another job after we hailed him a black cab in Goodison Rd?

Catterick did not get the credit he deserved by a long way.

Some would say neither did Gordon Lee... maybe because his time coincided with us having Duncan MacKenzie in the team and the media and some fans couldn't wait for the alleged dour and boring Lee to fall out with DM.

In his first seasons Lee got respectable finishes (3rd and 4th) but behind Liverpool. He never recovered from that really. He did sign Richardson, Ratcliffe and Sharp.

Gordon Lee should have achieved more, played some fantastic football under him,if a proper keeper had been in place who knows what would have happened
Bingham I never took to him or his teams, though again should have won the league

We played some excellent footie at times under Gordon Lee and for a manager labelled boring and dour, his teams were mostly good to watch despite not quite getting over the line.
Met him once, he came across as a very down-to-earth, and genuine person. A real student of the game, he did a superb interview with Radio Merseyside a few years ago that was fascinating listening.
