The win was there for Merc today, shouldn't have done their usual 'stretch it out' bs and reacted straight away. They lost 10 seconds to Max in the pit lane this race.

Ridiculous really. I know they are mates but feels like Norris is in awe of verstappen.

You see it quite a bit with the younger drivers tbh, tons of them grew up racing each other, everyone is a lot more buddy buddy than in previous F1 eras.

Think Piastri seems to have a bit to him. McLaren would do well to shift support to him.
 
Mercedes strategy cost them victory today. To leave Hamilton out for his first stop was ridiculous and cost him the race. You wonder if is because (although they’ve been a great team previously) it’s because they haven’t been in the mix of late.

Because they haven't got the ultimate pace they look for miracles, by going long you can get a safety car or VSC to make the difference or wishful thinking that Hamilton can nurse the tyres to make an unfancied strategy work.

If I were Hamilton I would be telling Mercedes that you either force the strategy by pitting first or react soon afterwards so you don't keep putting me 7 to 10 seconds down when I was right on that car's tail a few laps ago. The amount of times he has had that done to him is amazing, even if you have a few laps fresher tyres you've used all that benefit and more just to close the gap.
