My other point being, can Derby afford to pay a manager now? Maybe they can't.
I'd be astonished as there's countless examples of managers walking from jobs against the will of their employers and I struggle to think of an instance where that has happened. Anyway, my original point was a deal to bring Rooney in would be a formality and the administrators of Derby County would not be holding out for a king's ransom given the nature of what they're there to do.
And if they can't afford to pay a manager then they'd be in no position to enforce a contract.
