Im sorry mate but there are people obsessed with Benitez on here!

We won our first game under Frankel and the first thing some mentioned was Benitez / tagging anyone who gave Benitez a chance in posts crowing.

Embarassing how he lives in peoples heads rent free. He's gone - move on!!

That tells you what a traumatic experience his reign was... most of us still need therapy.

Every time we won a game under Benitez you started tagging people into posts on here trying to buzz off them. Showed ignored content just to post that response, back in the bin you go now, have a great day.

I don't think the fans will turn on Frank if it goes a bit pear shaped, results wise, simply because I can see a plan and a style of play that he wants to implement at Everton, which is all I and many others have been wanting for ages.

He might not have all the right tools within the current playing squad, and so if these players make mistakes trying to do the right thing then I can live with that and I won't go after them or the manager.

What we had before were tactics that surrendered the football at the earliest opportunity and created a panic throughout the side, resulting in the depressing inevitability of us conceding. The fear gripped and then we played even less football, and players went missing in plain sight, not doing the basics like running, tackling, showing for the ball, and the cycle continued, and the fans became frustrated and turned on the players and ex-manager.

I saw none of that on Saturday, and even when the Brentford penalty went in, the players focus and belief remained and they carried on with the tactical and individual gameplan, and played even better, instead of loosing their heads and hearts as they surely would have done previously.

If the players believe, I can believe.

You wont call for anyone's head. Rather than just saying how you feel, you come back with crap like "it doesn't matter what I think because we can't afford it as will get deducted points due to ffp" (funny how you were totally wrong about that) or that you couldn't care less either way.

You just sit on the fence (in terms of saying what you actually want or dont want) and make what you think are "edgy" comments.

You "couldn't care less" yet you are still here trying to make out like any success we get now is because of him.

Oh, and you called him "rafatollah", so stop talking out your arse about not caring.

Do I? I said Benitez has helped lay stronger foundations for Lampard than Ancelotti left for him which is correct isn't it?

No Brands (who the fans wanted out for wasting millions)

No Donachie (who was part of a horrendous medical department)

Players like Gray and Townsend Signed for peanuts with the right attitudes

Players like Gordon given a breakthrough into the first team.

By your logic if Lampard takes us down come gw 38 Benitez deserves none of the blame and its all on Lampard which is nonsense both would share a portion of the blame over full season.

As much as your agenda may want it you cant lay every negative at the feet of the previous manager whilst hold up any future success as having had absolutely nothing to do with the previous bloke.

Refreshing to see our manager speak so positively about us. Not just because of the win on Saturday, but his positivity since the moment he arrived through the door. Yes there will bumps along the road, but as fans we can see a clear plan going forward how he wants us to play. He wants us on the front foot, bossing possession and going at teams. This has got to be the mindset against Newcastle. They have been as poor defensively as we’ve been. It’s interesting how glowingly he spoke of VDB and Dele in training. Maybe he is going to include one or both in the side.
