How refreshing to actually enjoy listening to what our manager has to say, and for it to make sense. We are only one game in so I don't want to get carried away but feel very positive about this appointment and the backroom staff as well.
Couldn’t agree more. He’s been like a breath of fresh air with his positivity. Clement has been working on set pieces and we scored two on Saturday. Let’s hope we can be just as strong in our own area.

I said Benitez has helped lay stronger foundations for Lampard than Ancelotti left for him which is correct isn't it?
No.

Benitez left behind a team shot of confidence in a the midst of a horrific run of form which was heading straight for the championship.

Yes Gray and Townsend have been good signings and Gordon's breakthrough has been one of the positives of this season but lets not rewrite history. Benitez was a disaster of a manager that will be held upon alongside Mike Walker as one of the worst in our entire history.

Strong foundations, jeez give your head a wobble.

Yes your right. ‘Strong foundations’ leaving a team totally devoid of confidence and in a relegation scrap and having just lost one of our most popular players in the dressing room after falling out with benetiz.

Do I? I said Benitez has helped lay stronger foundations for Lampard than Ancelotti left for him which is correct isn't it?

No Brands (who the fans wanted out for wasting millions)

No Donachie (who was part of a horrendous medical department)

Players like Gray and Townsend Signed for peanuts with the right attitudes

Players like Gordon given a breakthrough into the first team.

By your logic if Lampard takes us down come gw 38 Benitez deserves none of the blame and its all on Lampard which is nonsense both would share a portion of the blame over full season.

As much as your agenda may want it you cant lay every negative at the feet of the previous manager whilst hold up any future success as having had absolutely nothing to do with the previous bloke.
If we stay up, that's all on lampard. As benitez had us with the worst form in the league, falling down the table. If lampard takes us down, he is in part to blame, but the foundations for that were set by Benitez.

You and carlin were making comments that if we win the FA Cup, that he deserves credit. What, because he scraped past a crap championship team? No, if we win the FA Cup (we wont) but that's also on Lampard.

It all depends on how you look at it though. Are they stronger foundations?

Got rid of donachie brought his own team in, continued to get training ground injuries.

Got rid of Brands who supposedly wasted millions, but many of the high fee signings weren't even him and were Mosh, or previous managers.

He got rid of james and digne who were our most creative players. I imagine lampard could have got a lot out of digne, certainly a lot more than Benitez did with his negative football. You talk about him leaving it in a better place ran Ancelotti did. Yet we were 10th when Ancelotti left.

Ultimately, results on the pitch and position in the table is what matters when talking about a manager. The foundations benitez left were for relegation.
