You’re just looking at the worst part of Benitez by the end. It wasn’t comparable to the football at the beginning, remember the Docuoure through ball to Gray against Burnley?

Just the same way Ancelotti’s performance against Spurs at the start of that season was absolutely nothing like the 5-0 drubbing by City at the end. See Koeman, Silva and Allardyce for comparisons.

We can claim success after a few games if we want but I don’t back these players do it will take more than them turning up for a few homes games to wipe away five years of cowardly crap.

Lampard seems to know what he’s doing though, hopefully that will extend to the summer when he has to be ruthless and turf these players out.
We literally had 4 games under Benitez were they looked like a cohesive unit. Don’t try and convince yourself the Southampton and Burnley matches were some kind of walk in the park because the first half of both were atrocious.

For 90% of games we were awful, sitting deep and setup in conceding possession, winning it back and giving it to Gray. That was the entire game plan

It was the worst type of football I’d witnessed since Mike Walker.

We were going down under him - no doubt about it.

That man is the blackest of black marks on our history

Jesus Christ - Benitez is just about the easiest target ever.

Haven’t you got something more contentious to argue about?

How about the state of Everton football club over the last 5 years and the root causes and potential resolutions….. ‘no lad but what about Benitez and Rondon you bad kopite’ or something to that effect

Can this geezer ever be one of us?

Or would he go running when chelsea make another booty call?

My lad commented on how good it was to see a manager celebrate the way Lampard did. Positivity is infectious. As long as the crowd reciprocate to something positive it will grow.
We've shifted from 'Everton that' to 'Everton aren't we?' in a couple of weeks
Not seen a celebration like that since….

Nonsense about FFP?

Read our accounts and educate yourself kind sir. We didn't spend £1.7 million in the summer for the fun of it.

We had to sell Digne just to fund our January business and likely pay off Benitez.

Apparently if you backed every previous Everton manager before this one, and want the long term problems at the club resolved, you can’t back Lampard and you’re not a real fan

I know it's only because we were at home but the fight in this team was nothing short of impressive today. Constantly looking to win the ball back from Leeds just looked miles better than we have had for years.

The constant looking to shoot or create chances, most of the time the pass hit the man but just takes one perfect pass to open a defence up.

We looked like a team not only willing to fight to stay up but one that is better than the teams around us. I know this performance goes away next week away at Southampton but that's all we need in our remaining home games. Fight and passion and maybe , this relegation battle ends far quicker than we expected.
