Apologies if this has been shared, but isn't Keane's motd interview interesting? Stating that training and approach os more intense, pressing focused and that the squad have berm given license to be bold in possession.

Take it on face value and it suggests inadequacy on the part of Ancelotti and Benitez's regimes. There were a number of us who were positive about Benitez seemingly upping the intensity of training, but based on this that wasn't enough. Which also points the finger at Ancelotti too.

Let's hope this more intense possession based approach continues to pay dividend.
The MOTD analysis highlighted how we are pressing, particularly in the final third.

Under previous managers when we got within 30 yards of the opposite goal it was like we stopped and started looking for passports!

At Chelsea he was managing a squad with big egos, our squad have been so rubbish for so long they need building up an ego, not piping down. I agree, Frank was the best we could have hoped to get, fingers crossed he can turn this around
We have shrinking violets they have a team of big egos. It's all about getting in the heads of players and stopping the rot.

Maybe he's learned at Chelsea and we benefit. Hopefully. He has a good team around him anyway.

Shows you what a good win does. Looking at who's next up at Goodson and I started to think we can do City!....which would be great now that the title is settled.

Lampard is an intelligent man, who worked hard to make the most of his talent. Possibly even over-achieved with it as a result. He’s never comes across as having a big ego either, unlike a lot of people in football.

I think those qualities are the grounds of someone capable of learning from mistakes, and improving over time.

The backroom staff he’s brought in, for me hint at that.

I also think he knows this job is vital to keep him being thought about as a credible manager in the top flight. That will spur him on.

TBH if he gets us top half next season I can see him being a target for other clubs and we may lose him after he's steadied this ship.

That's football.

Not hid the fact that I was a Lampard sceptic

So far, I was impressed with the Brentford performance especially given he had 5 days to train the team and what we saw was a style and system absolutely poles away from what he'd seen the rest of the season. Major credit for that.

Newcastle performance was a concern, same system employed (although injuries were hard to deal with admittedly) but we were out-worked, out-fought and tactically inept as Newcastle set up expecting us to try and play exactly how we had against Brentford and that's exactly what we tried to do.

Leeds was the best performance we've seen in a good while. Totally changed it up tactically, huge energy, high pressing and we ran all over them. The tactics were absolutely on the money but completely different to what we'd seen before.

Encouraging so far. He's having to work with a big injury list, but while I still wonder about how much of that Newcastle result was down to him, the other two games have been tremendous on the whole.
