2021/22 Frank Lampard

Let it be clear, Lampard needs time. No matter who had been the manager, one would have needed time with this gang. Because you basically have to replace this whole gang to be able to get something similar to success.

What I criticize is his belief that these players have underperformed due to low self-esteem. I have no belief that Iwobi will suddenly become such a much better player just because Lampard is the manager. Both Ancelotti and Benitez have questioned the players 'character, and it's more about the players' personalities than something fluid like self-confidence. So I hope he does not fall into that trap.

I also do not think it was a smart idea to bring Ali from Tottenham. A player who has underperformed in recent years, and who has been accused of having a bad attitude. Among other things by Mourinho, and now Conte has got rid of him. I do not think this is the kind of player Everton need.
The issue is he can't bomb all these players right now, at the moment he needs to pump them with positivity see what he can get out of them because we have very few options due to injury . I do agree he needs to identify the wasters and stop starting them though Gomes and Iwobi are two prime candidates. Kenny has had one game and some average ones we need the left back in. Keane and Holgate will be needed but I am still under no illusions they are cowards too.

I understand your point. It is in many ways a no win situation. But we do not have time to go through the whole process again with players who have failed repeatedly, but yes, it is difficult. Therefore, I also think it was a big gamble to get a player like Ali.

If and when Doucoure/Godfrey are back fit we can put them in. But yes we needed a DM with mobility and or a CB most for me above Alli, issue was partly how late Lampard was brought in and partly Moshiri burning a loan on El Ghazi who will likely barely play! Clearly Lampard sees our route out as playing attacking football because we can't rely on our defence I hope he's right!

This team isn't able to win an away game for love nor money. Our next two league games are Man City at Goodison and Spurs away.

Basically all we can do is hope that our home form is spot on for the final run in, and we've also just got to pray and hope that there's three teams worse than us.

It's a desperately sad situation, but that's just the way it is. Supporting this club is never easy is it!

> three weeks is not enough time 'to say now we are resilient, now we play through pressure all the time. There are issues today. that I thought we clearly have to work on'.

Can talk a good talk but he 'clearly' sees what it is that needs working on - resilience when the game turns and the ability to 'play' through pressure.

He's not mucking about when he says that after this defeat, he's gone stright to the source that many supporters have seen, no endured, for a long time.

Alright he's got that far, now lets see whether he can follow through

The no bullshit approach to where his players are is a good start, and the confidence, belief in himself I think will work to well to this in turning things around

Welcome to my life. At least Rovers keep me half sane

How many more games will he be able to play 2 in midfield before the fans turn?
Can't turn we're in this together if we don't fully back him we're doomed, us getting behind them especially at home making it intimidating is the only way out of this mess if we carry on giving out crap which sometimes is deserved some of these players bottle it we can't afford to do this anymore. Singing them home to safety is the only option coyb

How we feel next Saturday after a likely defeat against City will depend a lot upon..

Wed
Burnley v Spurs
Watford v Palace

Sat
Palace v Burnley
Man U v Watford

We sadly need these games to go our way so we can face up to Spurs out of the bottom 3 and still feeling like we are more out of relegation danger than in.

It's a defeatist mindset, but the priority away from home may need to be avoiding demoralising losses that put a dent in our goal difference.

I think he’s been a bit unlucky in the way the fixtures have played out. Always the way in this league that teams can be lucky/unlucky as to when they play sides.

Bad time to play Newcastle who were on a high after beating leeds and having a decent end of the window.

Southampton have been playing really well for a while now and just beat Spurs away.

Yes we were rubbish in both games but could have had an easier start / teams out of form.

Unfortunately for him it doesn’t get easier. City on the weekend, Spurs who will be on a high after the city win and Wolves who have won their last four away from home.

I think all the teams below us are thinking let's get above Everton and we are safe...

He got it wrong today.

He shouldn't have started the same team. Everton's squad cannot be run via a meritocracy because the squad is far too inconsistent. It has to be done on a game by game basis. If that means dropping players then so be it.

He also should not have taken off Allan and brought on Gomes, that was a big, big mistake. Both players let him and the team down, btw, but with Allan we had a midfield to work with. With Gomes we had nothing. It was a bad, bad move against a team that presses as well as Southampton do.
