The players confidence is in tatters, much the same as there skill levels they showed in today’s match.
Unfortunately in sport when confidence is low you tend to play badly, second guess everything you do, don't trust yourself with the ball and so make panic passes.

We're in a right mess which is why home form is now crucial.

Getting thrown under the bus by the new manager in public doesnt help. Its mourinho tactics, thats what it is.

I think Frank should throw those so called experienced players under the bus and play our younger, keen players who will at least have the desire and energy to give it a go.

The players I mean are Keane, Gomes, Coleman, Iwobi, Townsend, Tosun, and Rondon, no doubt others would like to add to the list.

FBs should be chosen from Patterson. Myko and Kenny. CBs have to Godfrey, Branthwaite and Holgate. MF Dobbin should be given a go. I am sure there are other young players ready perhaps you can name them.
Onyango.

Amazing isnt it?

Was all Benitez's fault

Now its none of Lampards and all these spineless players of ours

:hayee:

Benitez didn't try to change or get them to play football. 35% possession on average to play counter attacking football that didn't work.

Lampards been in 4 weeks and the average possession is 45% and is willing to make changes.

Failing in trying to play football is far more encouraging than just than not trying at all.

The players are pony. They were also getting blamed under Bentiez.

The issue is our fanbase largely never gave the last manager a chance from the get go and its created a poisonous atmosphere around the place which our spineless players have taken advantage of and put their slippers on as they knew the manager would take the heat from the fans.

The mental gymnastics is astounding at the moment, a few examples:

Simon Buttle correctly states anyone hounding the manager oot at this stage is a fool - yet plenty on here including Kev The Rat, Marius, nsno Christopher etc were doing just that after a pre season friendly defeat away at Old Trafford.

BlueToff and many others hammered Benitez for not playing 433 - they haven't had any issue with Lampard over it.

Fans fumed when we played Coleman at LB over Digne yet Lampard yesterday selected an even worse RB in Kenny to play LB over Mykolenko an actual LB - nothing said !!

Some of our fans either cant see it or choose not to see it but they have blood on their hands and they need to repent for their sins imo.
You don't believe Benitez's flawed tactics played a role in his failure?
Although a highly polarizing appointment due to his past affiliation and just the fact his career was on the wane, coaching in china, many fans including myself initially supported him. But his dire tactics, rampant pettiness that created conflict within the squad and his inability to own up to his culpability for the results sealed his fate. I mean he lost 5-2 to an abysmal Watford side when he was supposedly about implementing a defensive emphasis. Also this was a series of calamitous performances against lower tier teams.
As some posters pointed out Kenny's inclusion was earned through the previous performance, playing Coleman as left back was born from spite.
The Saints game was dreadful and Frank should be rightfully criticized for the match, but it's incredibly early in his reign and there has also been two exceptional performances as well. Being a football manager should be a learning process and it seems Frank is willing to reflect on his missteps unlike Benitez who was hostile and smug towards any form of scrutiny.

I think it's time to move on from the Benitez conversation he's gone let's just focus on Frank.

Two defeats in the next two games and he will find himself in an awkward moment. He did have a tendancy to call out the players at Chelsea but I think he knows that's not going to work here.

They’ll blame Frank if we go down, they’re scabs. I can see it now, the former slug is not at any fault in this situation, they’ve written the worst run I our modern history as player issue.

They’re baying for blood because the club canned their idol.

Like you said, utterly embarrassing fans.

Like those hard times, when they goaded us, we stuck together as one, we prevailed for the better of this club. Our support emerged against Leeds and our support will see Frank through to the end.

They are no longer fans of this club, they are associates and will not join in any success that Frank brings

I even read yesterday "it'll be 10 defeats in 14 if Frank carries on this way". Like literally having games he watched from the sofa attributed to him.
