2021/22 Frank Lampard

So let me get this right.

Rafael took over Newcastle in 19th place. Had 11 games to save them. A great many of you on here took pride in saying that Rafael relegated Newcastle.

Rafael left us in 16th place. Lampard has 15 games, if we go down it's Rafas fault.
Mad innit.

If there's one thing that Benitez has given Moshiri, it's an insurance policy to get 25-35% of the fanbase of his back because they still blame Rafael for getting rid of Rodriguez, the medical staff or Brands. Easy. Getting relegated and somebody that was here for six months is blamed for it.

One advantage: they won't turn on Frank (yet...)

The problem is that things have been terribly bad 3 times.

Koeman left us in the bottom 3. Silva left us in the bottom 3. Benitez went 1 win in 14. I don't see how people can disagree those sackings weren't merited.

We need to give Lampard as much time as possible. But football doesn't work like that. I don't agree with it, but if we go down then he will be sacked.

If Moshiri sacks Lampard in the summer then there needs to be a full revolt against him. Bollocks to the stadium, he needs running out of this club.

I was thinking recently, although I hate Sean Dyche, he might have been what we needed. But I hope Fronk will be given time and won't be either hounded out by the bedwetters or sacked prematurely by Moshiri after his first bad run.
Dyche doesn't get the plaudits he deserves really. Keeping Burnley in the Prem is his target year after year, some years he done more than that.

Bigger teams fear them always, and they are known as cloggers and a brutal/dirty team by the knockers, but jeez I wish our lads would sometimes have that killer instinct to fight for a result like they do......all half billion pounds worth of them. I've missed us being called dogs of war badly.

So would I

But I don't think that's realistic. A manager who takes down Everton isn't going to survive IMO
We go down then we would need to bounce straight back up or it's administration, surely? So it's not like he would get to regroup whilst the pressure's off.

Not be negative like - I still think we'll do enough to escape, but our clown show of absolute dross trousering 100k+ a week is not built for the championship that is for definite. Unsustainable doesn't begin to describe it.

I think Dyche does well with the resources he has available to him. He's got the players he feels he needs to keep them up. If he inherited our team I think he would struggle hugely to get that dogs of war mentality out of them.

At Newcastle (which is what Moshiri bought into) he got them back on track and stabilised. It was a poisoned chalice and he did make a difference over 3 seasons.

Don't buy that. He brought him in because Rafael had followed Carlo at Real and Abramovich bigged him up. He was also 2nd choice behind Nuno who we offered the job to which fell through.

He had Newcastle hanging in the prem after dropping them and Steve Bruce getting the same results when he took over. Rafael walked on water for them cos he, as usual, whinged about the owner.

End of the day though even if it was...his job at Newcastle should have never been used as a barometer to take over here.

I hope Lampard succeeds (which speaks for itself), but if he fails to keep us in the PL he will be fired. I think that is fair too. He is a fairly untested manager, and this is his chance to show that he has managerial skills. If we move down to the championship, Lampard will end up as a pundit for the next 5 years.

It must be remembered that Lampard received a lot of criticism for his managerial skills and tactical abilities at Chelsea, and that many believe he has been given the opportunities in his former clubs due to contacts and names.

Can we all stop bleating about the FSW? Whats done is done, he sold our best players, destabilized the club and demotivated the team to get us in the mess we are in now. End of story, time cannot be rewound! Dont care if you disagree or agree with my assesment but STFU!
Lets get behind Lampards Everton and get some points so we are still in the division next year - thats the only goal now!!

I think thats why his backroom staff are so good and are so involved. More credit to him, know your weaknesses and surround yourself with people who fill the gaps!

Bingo.

There are other examples too.

We used to be like that. Not any more.
I think even in the worst case scenario that we somehow can't get the results to stay up we should stick with Lampard. It's probably the best way to hold on to some of the players too having him around and not some dinosaur "to get us back up" and keeps a bit of stability which would probably be required to get out of the Championship.

However I'm hopeful based on the Brentford and Leeds results, our style of play and our set piece play improvements defensively and offensively that there are enough signs of life to scrape to 40 points.

I do, as long as we stay up, think Benitez will have been a good thing in the long run.

The fatman was a necessary detox to get the fanbase united alongside a managerial appointment. A young, hungry manager that should be given the time the mentalists thought Benitez should've gotten.
