Blame the Digne situation all you like. How have Villa done since he arrived there? Won 1 in 5 games and that was against us.

We were well beaten at Villa and it was poor from there. Creditable performance at Old Trafford but the rot had well and truly set in for Ole.

Also an easy start on paper. The likes of Norwich and Burnley at home.

It wasn't even as good a start as the season before under Ancelotti. He got 4 wins and a draw from his first 5 league games, as well as 3 cup wins. So we started unbeaten in 8.

Is that because Benitez lost to a lower league side?

The longer Benitez had with the team to implement his own ideas and methods, the worse the team became. Our defending became abysmal as he introduced new ideas, especially at set pieces. His tactics became more negative, passive, and reactionary. I saw nothing other than old fashioned and inept coaching.
