Hope he ditches trying to play with a back three. We’ve never played well using it. That aside, pleasantly surprised, has lifted the mood and players look like they believe/are trying to win football games again.

We did what we had to do, so it's very much a case of job done. I think we have a very winnable quarter final against Crystal Palace now.

Of course the situation in the league remains a concern, but i think we're in with a great chance now of getting to the semi finals.

Of course you'd like to win more comfortably, but the main thing is that we did win.

I think it’s just our utter lack of midfielders. Only two available tonight - and probably two he’d have liked to rest.

Not having Davies and delph fit as squad fillers is problematic. God knows what happened to Gomes…he is known to pick up niggles, but he was also so poor last time round that Lampard might have binned him off or Gomes’s confidence has shattered.

yeah this has been our problem for ages, so many poor central midfielders
Doucoure and Allan I rate highly but then:
Gomes too slow and worst tackler in the league also always injured
Delph always injured and a gobshite
Gbamin injured into obscurity
Sigurdsson <redacted>
Davies doesn’t have enough quality sadly

Then before that we had
Schneiderlin coward
Rooney past it
Klaasen not premier league standard

Wasn't his biggest fan prior to him coming here however he's like a breath of fresh air, I believe we'll come good under him sooner rather than later, I just wished we had a midfielder half as good as him on the pitch.

I had a feeling that Frank was the right man for the job. It's good to see you come around to my way of thinking.

I'm guessing that he plays 3 at the back to try and compensate for how vulnerable he thinks we are in that area. It doesn't really work though because it just ends up with us having another player who's not good enough on the pitch

I thought he’d played 3 at the back quite a bit at Chelsea as well. Might be right though, we’re not exactly spoilt for choices in midfield. Hopefully VDB, Allan and Dooks vs Spurs. No idea where Gomes was tonight, kind of game you’d have thought would suit him. Gbamin, Delph and Gomes both need shown the door come the summer.

3 wins from 4 at home since he’s come in, starting to get that form back gradually, just need to start converting it into away games starting on Monday

Took a gamble with that side tonight, but also quite assuring that he trusted them to get the job done.

Yes, we needed a few of the better players to come on, but in the end a professional job.

Nice one Frank, you’ve got one away game to fix our away mess before a huge QF in a fortnight

It’s 4-5-1 really, although I expect we are talking about the same thing, three central midfielders. I agree that nothing else works.

I think that’s another way of calling him a cart horse.

Problem when your playing with that formation in the first half is you need rapid movement and agility on the wings so that you can play quick passes between the winger and the wingback and the winger can then cut inside and run at the defence. We just stop moving once the ball is down the wing and end up playing it back to Allan, Doucoure or the Defence and the move breaks down.
