2021/22 Frank Lampard

He took over a side that could have feasibly finished in the top 10. We weren't in a relegation battle, we were just as many points off mid table as we were off the bottom 3.

If we finish 17th, it's not job done. He hasn't completed his objective and will more than likely be sacked.

Hilarious how after Frank lost his first prem game ‘relegation battle’ started being mentioned yet after Benitez with his 1 win in 15 prem games anyone who mentioned ‘relegation battle’ under him were told by certain posters to get a grip because we weren’t in a relegation fight.

They don't half ask him some utter guff in these.

Yep. Given it is a pre-match presser the press should be required to ask questions relating to the match, and preferably sensible football questions. Asking questions about various unrelated club issues, general football, politics, world events etc. should not be permitted. That way people looking in might actually get some worthwhile information

I thought Lampard was a 433 guy?

What was funny, was we appointed Silva who was a 433 guy, who died on the 4231 hill!

Most of our managers go to 5 at the back because they see the lack of quality in our defence and midfield and it seems a sensible option. I don’t think they expect our players to struggle to pass a ball or move up the pitch when they play in a 5 but that’s what happens almost every time.

Probably because we keep appointing managers who don't play 4-3-3.

Ancelotti preferred formation was 4-4-2.

Benitez 4-2-3-1.

Lampard 4-3-2-1.
4-2-3-1
4-8-6
4–8-10000000

I have no idea what you are on about when Lampard lines up 5-3-2 against a non league side.

I think he wants to sure up defensively and that why he would play five at the back but for injuries.

You've got one hell of a job on at this club lad.

If I were him I'd be looking to get safe and then demand that any financial promises made when I was interviewed are met or I'd be off.

He isn't a fan of the club like us so he has no loyalty in that respect, and his priority is himself and his coaching staff.

Of course his priority is himself and his staff, but, unlike his predecessor, he has no established reputation to fall back on. The only way Frank helps himself and his staff is by helping us, he is trying to make a name for himself as a manager and where better to do that than here. We are truly a basket case of a club at the moment, due mainly to our Iranian overlord and his strange decisions, of which appointing the fat Spaniard was by far the strangest, but, there is great potential here, we have a long history as a top club and, if we can get a bit of momentum going, we can improve very quickly.

Our squad is not great, but, it is far better than it appeared to be under Benitez, he sucked all the confidence out of them and actually told them that they weren't good enough to play possession based football, preferring instead to concede possession and territory and hope our disjointed defence could hold firm and that we might get something on the break. I think that Lampard is a very intelligent young man and that he has seen the potential here, if he turns this around he will be a manager who is in great demand.
So @davek, he's not an Evertonian, but, he has just as much reason as we do to fight for a successful Everton team any way that he can.

Listening to his PC it's clear the BBC's Alistair Magowan is not as funny as he was in the 90's. :hayee:

Yes I know not even the same surname...anyhow he needs to be banned from asking questions if he keeps on week in week out trying to be edgy. For someone who supposedly holds a coaching licence, he should be able to ask decent questions regarding formation and tactical approaches such as why aren't we playing 433 for starters.

If we are going to play 433, would you expect Frank to announce it at the press conference in advance of the game and give the opposition an opportunity to counter it.

I think you're overestimating what is said at a press conference

In one way it's taken a lot of expectation off his shoulders.

If he does ANYTHING with this basket case of an organisation now he'll be seen as a miracle worker.

But he still needs a few in and out to make a fist of this next season.

If I was him and cash had been promised and is now taken off the table Ild be straight of there.

I doubt he was promised much cash above what could be raised from sales.
