2021/22 Frank Lampard

Lampard has to show he has a ruthless attitude as a manager for us to survive, starting with dropping the captain. If he can't get us safe after 19 games I would want him quickly out of the door
If we are going to survive he needs to make big decision, Coleman for a start I like him but today’s game is all about pace and unfortunately Coleman has lost his.

If that's true I think it would be more a result of feeling insecure in his position tbh. It's like a new and inexperienced teacher who worries too much about being found out and will often try to befriend his/her students and try too hard to be liked. This will be okay for a while but ultimately it's a huge mistake that they will correct with experience. On the other hand without success or experience (and especially with this team) if he gets in their face and upsets them they will just throw him under the bus and blame it on him!
He can't really win (unless the team is winning) and we seem to have hit the skids without even a new manager bounce this time!
I really worry for us now because this appointment is IMO the worst kind and at the worst kind of time. He wasn't able to do too much damage at Chelsea cause they had quality players but with us?
I'd have more hope with Dunc in charge but he would also face the same problem of lack of experience and public confidence in him when things are going wrong.

It's just ridiculous. We are going down. We should have appointed a heavy punter like Paul Heckingbotham of Sheff Utd. Maybe he would have got us out of our situation. But he would have cracked heads along the way.
Missed a trick not getting Steve Bruce in I think. Experienced firefighter and comfortable in his own (elephant) skin. Better record at Newcastle than Benitez too.

What's not to like?

I guess it’s because Gordon has been performing more consistently.

I agree with this.

It's a difficult one with Gordon for Lampard IMO, because he puts loads of effort in to the games and is somewhat of a fan favourite, but we're not getting loads of goal scoring chances from him really. If he plays Gordon it means that Gray misses out if DCL is fit, cos he's not likely to drop Richarlison. I personally think a fit Gray is the better player out of him and Gordon. I also wonder if El Ghazi is just woeful or if he'd be given a go if Lampard had the choice as well. Sometimes it's someone like that who can suddenly just lift the team if he came in and hit form, as none of the others are in form. But if he drops Gordon the crowd would be right on his back.

Having said that Gordon is the only one putting the effort in, I just don't think he ever really looks like creating an awful lot.

He set us up to play spurs as we should have set up v wolves and vice versa. It looks to me like he’s trying every formation available in the hole of stumbling across the right one. I’d rather a coach stick to his convictions than one flip flopping between formations

I get what your saying but that was the exact problem with Rafael , Silva and bobby… they wouldn’t change their beliefs such as defending corners , or not giving the opposition 70% possession

I totally agree with this. I would drop Gordon because he doesn't make great decisions in the final third. It's all well and good that he is trying but he could be part of the reason we are losing as he is constantly running down blind alleys.

But we can’t be doing that because the players cannot defend and keep clean sheets. Soon as we go 1 down we crumble. Do you really want to see this lot try shut up shop for 90 minutes?
This isn't true at all. Any Premier league team if set up correctly can defend and keep clean sheets. Look at when benitez took the youth team to Chelsea. We only conceded once and nicked a set piece and drew 1-1. That was playing 5 at the back.

If we set up a team similar to when ancelotti was here with a back 4 of centre backs. Godfrey, Keane, branthwaite and Holgate then that a solid base. The problem is, I think lampard has left it too late and it's at a point where we do need the 3 points from a game like this because games like Liverpool away we are just not going to have a hope in.

If Lampard doesn't win today then I think he has to go because he's just shown too much naivety for my liking. And he is already doing worse in the league than benitez who had a much worse set of players to pick from due to injury.

If lampard does continue to lose, at what point does it become unacceptable?

We still have a chance, no I’m not saying sack him, he may figure it out…

Fine margins now though…

We should be good enough to stay up with the team we put out tonight, most injuries are back now I think, DCL possibly aside.

We need clean sheets to start, and we don’t seem to be able to do that, granted defensively we are so naive. But clean sheets are where we should’ve started, and being hard to beat. But we are none of that.

I hope he turns it around but I have serious doubts he can.

Talk in this thread of sacking Lampard, you need your heads testing. This sh show isnt his fault, its like trying to build a bridge out of jelly trying to get this bunch of hyenas to win a football match. The whole club stinks from Kenwright to the tea lady, I have never known an Everton team to have so many injuries, what is going on at FF? the so called conditioning coaches what are they doing? The physios? Rocky Balboa got fitter quicker than DCL from a stubbed toe FFS
