2021/22 Frank Lampard

I keep hearing this, Tony Scott mentioned it on his podcast. Will an extra midfielder really help if the other 2 are Doucoure and Gomes?

Will Kenny and Coleman all of sudden become great attacking full backs. Or make Keane run faster or Holgate be a better defender. Or makes Richarlison stay on his feet. Etc.

I understand the argument, but I’m not sure it’s a system change, gets this group improving.

The biggest worry for me is our away form is
so bad, it’s going to put huge pressure on the 3 home games we need to win.
Well he could at least try it. Cause clearly the system he's playing isn't working. You're right our away form is dire but our home form isn't much better.

He's got the passion and demeanour but has he got the coaching ability and savviness, the Jury is still out for me.

Players won’t do what he’s telling them to do. Same as the last few managers.

10 men agaisnt Newcastle showed how competitive these players can be when they want to be. They just give up all the time. They’d have given up on Thursday as well if we’d conceded. They’re rotten. Frank knows it as well now. He’s been burned too many times by this lot now. Their days are numbered but it wouldn’t surprise me if they tried to take us down to get rid of Frank knowing they’ll all keep their contracts and we won’t be able to get rid of them.

Embarrassing performance. A disgrace from all. Lampard must learn v quickly that set up doesn't work especially away from home. If he continues to set us so badly away from home we don't have a chance of gaining another point away and likely to get relegated
3-4-3 with Gomes plus 'x' in the center only works if the opponents are slow. Not many teams like that in the Prem these days.

It does seem like if we concede once, we usually concede loads.

We are so bad at getting counter stung, but its not just that, we are also toothless going forward, we cannot string passes.

I do think he's making mistakes which is fair to point out.

It's not his fault that as soon as we concede a goal we know we're losing but at the same time what he's doing to fix that isn't working.

Fortunately this wasn't a league defeat but it's still horrendous and saps all of the confidence from Thursday. And now a 2-week break before 2 straight away games.

He was good enough under ancelotti though. Much the same way lewen was a 20 goal striker under him and Keane passed as a premier league player.

Godfrey is the only centre half who should stay in my opinion. The rest should be replaced, braithwaite excluded.
Godfrey best position is left back
He’s terrible in the air
His positional play is poor at centre back

Looking at his post-match interview it looks as if the scales have finally fallen from his eyes. Question is, does he think the players he hasn't been picking can do any better?

He has played better at left back this season I agree. Especially at arsenal when he was snidey as hell.

We will find out next season if he is a centre half. Saying that , probably be one of our assets we have to sell to balance the books on the likes of iwobis contract.

Every manager makes mistakes. If the basics of working hard, limiting personal errors, and wanting to win, aren’t there, then it doesn’t matter what the manager does. No team can win games if they just give up as soon as they concede. Doesn’t matter what the manager does.

When he has a group of players who will follow his instructions then I’ll call him for his mistakes. Whilst he’s dealing with this clown show he has a free pass from me, as Ancelotti did, as Benitez did.
