Combine that with Thirwell’s knowledge of youth players and being more sensible with fees and we could get a far more competitive and hungry squad than we do now

He took a derby that had finished 6th the previous season and got them up to… 6th.

The transfer ban was a bit overhyped. They brought in Pulisic (and others) that window. Then, despite getting Mendy, Havertz, Werner, chill well and ziyech, he had them in ninth. Tuchel got the same group up to 4th and won the CL.

I dont think he’s a bad manager, just overhyped and not the best experienced for a relegation dogfight.

It's probably a necessary purge.

Irony of it all is that Rooney thought he wasn't experienced enough to take the job, but he's done a better job with Derby's situation than Frank's done with Everton's. Bigger picture though is that Frank should have had the humility to turn it down and leave someone better qualified (if you want to avoid the above purge, that is).

Yes. I agree, pride is the devil, as we will see. Frank succumbed to this in my opinion. I feel he looked at the Everton job and thought if he could turn this around and get them into top 4-6 over a couple of seasons he’ll be a legend, job done.

If I was ever in my lifetime Everton manager, I would say to the fans, never sing my name. Sing the clubs name. People over Ego.

How guilty is he? Name others I guess, but you are not wrong.

Other fans really seem to hate him. All the below the line comments in the Guardian when we lose are people delighting in him getting us relegated. Very strange to see such vitriol directed at a fairly harmless bloke.
