2021/22 Frank Lampard

It's not who he sets up there with but how he tells them to play.

If you get 8/9 outfield players behind the ball for huge swathes of a game then you're going to be hard pressed to fall behind by a couple of goals. That leaves the chance of picking ul the pieces with the odd counter attack and set piece.

That sort of sterile approach was what was required for the games Lampard had in charge.
I mean the 3rd goal last night was scored when we had about 12 players in the box.

That position will be severely tested after 2.30PM Saturday if we dont have 28 points.

As said, I'm not going after Lampard. We just have a job to try and do here short term and I dont think hes the man to do that after the last 2 games worth of evidence is looked at.

His failure to consolidate what we had in-game has cost us 4 points from them.

Of course you’re not going after him, that’s why you‘re not so subtly dripping your usual poison into every post you make about him.

The only shout I had was for Rooney and Big Dunc. Possibly more character in the predicament we're in.

Wasn't against Lampard but felt it was too much of a gamble in our predicament.

However, I've seen enough in him to suggest if he stays we'll be in a better for the future. What league is up to the players
Exactly, while he wasn't the perfect appointment, he's not to blame for our predicament.

Park the bus, grind out clean sheets, etc, etc, none of that would matter with these defenders. That's just reality. They'd STILL make boneheaded decisions and leak goals.

Frankie surely cannot believe the state of these players and likely wants to strangle them every day more than we do

Oh, you mean just like Benitez tried for the whole time he was here ????

There's no poison. Club trumps manager EVERY time.

I like Lampard and wish it were different for him. But here we are with a choice of a long shot or nothing if we dont get 3 points against United.

I know what my choice is in those circumstances. Maybe you'd like to passively walk behind him into the Championship and retain him. I and many more dont.

You have to get a lot more players behind the ball to protect the back four than FL is prepared to deploy.

I said a few weeks ago: if we set up against all our opponents the way we set up against City then we'd survive with ease.

Lampard has made the same mistake as others who came in here wanting to play open football with these players. This time the club will pay dearly for it.

Burnley's first goal was a set piece mistake. Nothing to do with numbers

Burnley's second goal, DCL, Gordon and Kenny all got skinned within about 2 seconds and let their full back get to the by line. How many numbers do we need to try putting in a challenge.

Burnley's third goal game from switching off from a throw, and a horrific clearance by Godfrey.

None of those goals are anything to do with numbers. They are entirely caused by a lack of responsibility and inexplicable errors.

They'd still leak goals. If you argue not from open play, then on two of the 12 corners they got

So, you’ve now appointed yourself as the head of the “ Anti Lampard Faction “

Well, there’s a surprise lol

He had 1 banner placed by his house. He got an ovation in his first game and was welcomed

Stop changing history

He did get a clap from most supporters in his first game, yes. That doesn't mean he was universally welcomed or that he was given full backing.

You only need to look on here to see the personal and sometimes xenophobic abuse he gets from people who say he should never have been here in the first place and that this was plain for all to see before his appointment.

It was apparent to everyone he wasn't universally welcomed at the time. I think it's you that seems to be trying to change history.
