I agree mate. I do think FL got it wrong today by playing Gray because it really negatively impacted the shape of the team that, against United, was decent.

Yeah I think that’s a fair point mate, I wonder with his pace did he think he might trouble their full backs who can get caught high (our goal), or support Richarlison more, also it was his old club and point to prove and all that. I can see the logic but it didn’t come off agreed, at least he changed it.

But tbh it was a 4411 in the first half mate and it got ripped apart like it did under the Pig Man. Because we had Delph and Allan chasing shadows and Iwobi pressing high alongside Richarlison while Gray just mooched about on the left.

I think he worked back but he just has no defensive nous at all and it showed.

Personally think it had to be, as soon as they knew DCL was out, a sacrifice of Iwobi. Not taking him out, but shifting him to the right and putting Gordon left and stacking the midfield with Allan, Delph and Doucoure.
Delph was sat too deep, he walked around in front of the back four leaving Allan and iwobi exposed to the runners. Poor tactics and hiding from senior pros

we started to get more ground when we lumped it up to rondon, he did ok when he came on, we held it up better higher up thee pitch.

We need to empty this agains the rs, they will slaughter us if we try to play out, miss their midfield out and get it as Farr away from our calamity defence as possible
You been on the turps again? If I understand you correctly then yes, we should try playing from the back as little as possible. Against the RS I can see FL going with a back 4 (take your pick), midfield 3 (round up any dogs of war we may have) and a front 3 of Richy, Dele and Rondon. Rondon can't play on his own, needs one or 2 with him who can also mix it.

Fair play. 2-3 months ago we’d lose that.

But just can’t help feeling he got it so badly wrong again today. Richarlison works so hard, but he’s not a striker, and that needs to be reflected.

Unpopular opinion because he’s not very good, but I’d have played Rondon from the start just to play to our strengths. Felt he was too respectful of Leicester early on and it nearly punished us.

Overall it’s so much more positive and we’ve got a free hit on Sunday, just don’t get a drubbing and mess the goal difference up.

Rather than team selection/ set up, the main concern to me from a management perspective was the slow low intensity start to the game. We need to be at it from the ‘off’, especially at home, as this sets the tone for the match. We certainly paid for such a lackadaisical and flat start last night. If I was Lampard I’d be paying attention to why this happened.

Turps and bleach is my tipple of choice after a game.

You do read me correctly, if you watched our laborious efforts last night to pass it along the back four it was slow, idealess, the midfield didn't show for it (Delph came far too deep when he did and could only wall pass it back) and the forward line was too isolated when it eventually got panic booted upfield, Lance Armstrong FC will dry bum them if they try that on Sunday.

I agree to an extent but a lot of the open space was a direct result of Iwobi pushing up to press because Gray was just staying stationary and then because he doesn't have defensive nous, wasn't filling in to cover the space Iwobi left

Given our inability to string 3 passes together or keep the ball for more than 5 seconds, I think I’d go with Rondon up front on Sunday and hoof it. He’s a better target man than either Richy or DCL. No point in trying to play through the RS, not when they have 40 year olds seemingly able to run around like 20 year olds for 90 minutes

the press was disjointed and easily passed around in the first half hour, they looked like they'd never played together or even met each other before. The gaps were huge, Lance Armstrong FC will run for fun through those gaps

Our dynamics change massively when Gray of the wing, or playing.

I can’t believe how people can’t see it
I know. And that's why I feel Lampard got it so wrong yesterday.

Iwobi is playing well atm but he can play well wide, he has done in the past. Now he has confidence he could surely get involved more centrally too and Mykolenko is overlapping well right now. Gray didn't use him once yesterday and in the meantime there was a huge gap in midfield.
