2021/22 Frank Lampard

Benitez was dreadful - and ultimately Lampard looks like he is the wrong man for what we needed. The sole prerogative should have been to avoid the drop. Still don’t think the powers ar be at the club thought we were remotely in any real trouble even after sacking Benitez.

Lampard’s away set ups prior to today has been pretty terrible. Soton/Newcastle/Spurs in particular. Last three always I think we have looked better but still lost every single one.

Spending 100mil. Wood has barely done anything and Trippier got injured a few games inn. The midfielder they bought looks the bollocks but their other signings have barely done a thing.

Wood would mean Richarlison on the left.
Trippier could have been in for Coleman
Guimaraes ive wanted us to sign for 2 years

Etc

£100mil spend clearly improved them from 2 wins in 9.

Agree mate.

Said for a while I've felt he's been a bit naive in how he's set us up away from home.

Relegation fight - any away point is a good one. He's had us going to Spurs etc with a high line/pressing high. Nightmare, really.
Burnley is pretty inexcusable, but a fair few of those early results under Lampard are where I feel the tide started to turn against us.

Newcastle, Southampton, Tottenham and Wolves were poor performances, and it's only as of late where we've really started to make some improvements.

As others have said, the upturn by Newcastle, Leeds and Burnley have threw the knife in. Or was in October, November and December under Benitez?

The real problem is we've had too many long periods of failing to win, so the odd draw of victory now isn't going to pull us away from the pack.

You can slice it whatever way you want mate - but you brought the form league into it so sticking with that - since Lampard become Everton manager, only 1 team has earned less points in the league.

That's why we've gone from being 15th/6 points clear with a game in hand to 18th.
It is difficult to gauge the performance of a manager against their predecessors or whatever as there are so many variables involved, the opposition faced, shocking refereeing decisions, the shocking state the previous manager put the club in etc. I think we are in a better place with Lampard than with Benitez and if we do get relegated, not a done deal yet, I for one will not be blaming Lampard

Been a little critical of frank but starting to see him improve on his mistakes.

We where unlucky today not to get something out of the game. I dont get the feeling that the team are not playing for him.

Personally feel Burnley may get max 8 points from 5 games. Which would mean we need 3 wins and 1 draw from 6.

It's doable.

The players at least look like they are playing for him and I was dreading him doing an @Spurs tactic today but he didn't. I think he's the man for the long haul. He's in the deep end but on a steep learning curve. We can still stay up

Hopefully we can find some form and stay up and Lampard can take that momentum into the new season.

why didnt they just leave big dunc in charge until end of season. i dont even see him on the bench much when i watch the highlights.
not blaming lampard but its the board and particuly who ever though to bring in Rafael!!!!! its beyond a joke. we are the biggest joke in football right now and i hate it

Bar United away, I struggle to think of any performances under Benitez where you could go, "We played well." Even that performance wasn't spectacular.

The early run in August and early-September masked how poor we were under him, and you could argue we should have been in relegation zone much earlier.

Like yourself, I have the gut feeling that we're better under Frank although he showed a naivety early on and maybe, perhaps, the players have too.

We've not got six fixtures to pull ourselves our of the mire. Hopefully the learning curve isn't too steep for Lampard and the squad.

We aren't in a better place with lampard, we are in a worse one by far.

I don't say that based on points alone , it's the constant changing tactics , the lack of clear attack that we did have under benitez , insistence of playing senior players over the likes of Patterson etc.

We are worse off in a way because there hasn't been an improvement. At least with the old manager you could say his tactics with his players 'could' have turned us around maybe. Even now , 3 months later , how does lampard want us to play? It changes so much each game from pressing to containing to park the bus today.

I back lampard , I'd love to know in advance that we are safe and we are planning to gut the squad in the summer and reset it in the premier league. I don't expect Europe under lampard for a while but starting from the bottom up, I completely back lampard.

It's just we aren't better having him in. That lack of identity is killing us now in a relegation battle. At least Burnley know what they are doing and it's working. Drawing from the spirit of the club to give them a chance. On top of everything else wrong with us, not having a way of playing under lampard is part of the bigger problem.

For that reason I don't think we should be comparing them anyway.

In Lampards 10 games only 1 team has picked up less points. In that time we've also scored the least amount of goals (level with Brighton).

Sometimes got to change there or we're down.

I like Lampard, I hope he stays whether we stay up or not. Either way, big rebuild needed and I like the way Lampard wants to play and the staff he’s brought in.

4 points from Man U, Leicester and Liverpool isn’t bad under normal circumstances and we played well today with every player having a clear game plan. Salah, Mane and Jota did nothing all game.

If we treat our final six games the way we did todays game I have faith we get back above either Burnley or Leeds.
