If he didn't change the system to grind out results you'd be crying that he's so stubborn and refuses to change. If you don't think these players who have us in the relegation zone need called out then you need to give your head a wobble. This mess isn't Lampards doing and while Benitez will get the blame ultimately its on the players and only the players can get us out of this.
I have not said anything about the players. They have performed far below expectations, but that does not change the point. It's pretty basic psychology. His job is to make them perform better, and then you have to be professional enough not to be affected by your own feelings. It is also fundamental when you take on a team devoid of confidence, or working with people, that you start with some guidelines that you are pretty sure they will succeed with. You do not get them to start playing expansive football. It's so basic.

He was also not unfamiliar with this in Chelsea, and eventually it was the players who threw him under the bus. I think this attitude / approach, along with many different messages (unclear (guidelines) from match to match, is a recipe for disaster, one must also keep in mind that the Chelsea players complained about this to us.

Sutton has never ever had a good word to say about us mate.

He`s also a massive nobhead.

I still think our big problem is Lampard inherited a completely broken squad. Fractured throughout, confidence beaten out of them.

That’s not saying Lampard hasn’t been faultless because simply put, his tactics at times have been woeful.

But I’m still firmly behind him, I think he’s showing signs of getting it together, but the problem with that is, had we sacked Benitez when we should have, he’d have had 11-12 games with that confidence growing.

Instead we look bleakly up at Burnley and Leeds who sacked their managers and. Got a bounce wondering how we get out of the mess.

Again though, we won a battle by Benitez getting sacked, but not the war as the board continue to reap chaos off the pitch. We needed to maintain the pressure, so when we lose it again in 6-7 Months, Lampard and Thelwell aren’t the fall guys, it’s the fat cats at the top.

Lampard has many friends who work in the media, and who do not unexpectedly think Lampard is the next Guardiola. I know Harry is a pro Lampard, but Warnock also has experience. But that was not the point anyway. The point is that it is rarely wise for a manger to publicly criticize his own players.

What isnt a recipe for disaster with Evertons squad? Benitez tried the defensive approach. Ancelotti was struggling at the end. Lampard has tried both positive and kick up the arse approach.
The two previous managers before lampard had 40 years of managing. And managing giants of world football.

It seems to me we need someone to start from scratch and build some kind of structure. I wanted graham potter to start that a year ago.

No idea if lampard is or will be allowed to do something like that.

That's a good question. But as mentioned, the manager must be positive and clear with what he wants. I do not see that Lampard has had a great positive effect, but as you said, it is difficult. Burnley are going to fight, and they have the mentality and a system they believe in. We have the quality, but the question is whether we have the system and the mentality to get ahead of Burnley.

"Warnock urges lampard to tell out of form stars how good they are"

Well i'll gloss over the stars bit for now as thats a bit of a joke.
All i heard from lampard in his first few weeks here was tell these players how good they were. How they just lacked confidence.
Some people are going on like he hasn't already done this. He has. And warnock wasnt shy in telling his players how sh!t they'd been.

Everyones an expert now.

We were 16th. Based on XG stats we should have been 14th.

I think he would have had us grind out results against Newcastle and no way would we have lost 5-0 to Spurs. I very much doubt we would have got a red card 3 games in a row either.
You think he would have got a result away to Newcastle? The team who since the turn of the year have had the 3rd best form behind city and Liverpool?

Don't think we would have conceded 5 away at Spurs, but you still think we would have lost right? And conceding 5 isn't something he hadn't already done, except he did it to (checks notes), oh yeah, watford, at home.

Also conceded 4 at home to Liverpool under him.

Got to reasonably give Lampard some time and your backing and support. He doesn’t look like a serial loser to me but what a job he has had the ‘heavy-ones’ to step up to. He’s a very intelligent football man and it seems unfair to begin to judge him after such a short time in the red-hot seat. Look who he’s followed, and the 2 that went before him. He’s not getting sacked before the end of the season so nothing to gain by giving him stick and nothing to lose by giving him your full support
