Look…if you’re looking at Lampard and seeing anything in him to suggest he’s a manager, all the power to you, but so far I’ve seen nothing in his managerial career prior to us or since he joined to suggest he’s capable in any way.

Nuno was close to getting it in the summer but fell through just like his deal to Palace did, because of his massive entourage

And then the biggest part of your post I could level at being utter driver is to somehow compare Frank to Benitez and think Benitez did better, make no mistake about it we are where we are largely down to benitez.

I’m not saying at all that Benitez did better. In fact I repeatedly said he should never have been appointed. I’m saying that, on paper, he is quite obviously a far superior manager. Lampard has zero credentials to warrant getting a top job, and has been largely uninspiring everywhere he’s been.

I would LOVE him to succeed, for obvious reasons, but I just can’t see how he’ll ever be a successful manager. His demeanour pre and post game is dreadful, his tactics are largely non existent, and he’s quite clearly in over his head. He’s just so uninspiring to me.

I’ll stop mentioning Benitez now because it clearly triggers a few of you, but I’ll ask you this… if/when Frank gets us relegated, would you trust him at all to bring us back up? The Championship, as fun as it could be if we win a lot, requires stamina, passion and actual tactics. I just can’t see us getting that from him. I hope I’m wrong… I just don’t think he’s a manager.

Football isn't played on paper so you can chuck your "Benitez is a far superior manager" crap in the bin.

He's an absolute has been of a manager whose best days were over 15 years ago.

Luckily for Carlo, Real Madrid didn't consider him a has been slumming it with Napoli for years and then us. However they're now in a CL semi & won la Liga this weekend

He isn't a has been manager though, he was and is still winning things at the top clubs within the last 5 years.

Haven't seen any clubs of Madrids standard going for your man Benitez.

No doubt his best days are behind him, though he did do very well at NUFC with no spend and a championship squad. Again…I have said repeatedly he was the wrong appointment and I wouldn’t have chosen him.

But Lampard… in my opinion he’s a fraud of a manager, getting by on playing reputation alone.

Top job? Sorry, but top jobs are the Madrids, man city's, even spurs etc. The teams in Europe, getting to finals etc.

We haven't made it to Europe in god knows how long, and we are fighting relegation. We used to be a top job, and we may still be considered a good job and club to come to, but it's not a top job.

That's why we are getting managers like benitez and lampard. The ones that top clubs aren't after.

Spent 157m at newcastle. Maybe no net spend, but money was still spent on players.

Lampard has spent zero money with us so far.

Lampard misses out in Championship play offs, gets Chelsea CL footy during a transfer embargo, enters the Everton job under severe circumstances and without a transfer window...... yet you think he's a fraud of a manager getting by on reputation alone lol

I think you've just nailed Benitez and his last 3 jobs there. Got them on reputation alone because he certainly hadn't done anything the last 6 years to warrant the Everton job
