Oh and something I noticed, Palace, for all the praise people on here want to give their recruitment and their manager, have only won the same amount of games as the worst Everton side in the history of football.
If Lampard was playing as well as the Palace team has we'd not have a conversation, relegation or not.

No. I never put my faith in Benitez

Lampard does not want to play like this but is doing so because its what we need. He should have done it slightly earlier. Its called being pragmatic. Its absolutely not because he wants to reopen the Allardyce school of hoofball.

Because this summer we're starting over either way.

But if Lampard isn't it he's going to be the one sacked by Christmas.

I think we should just look around again at the very least.
We looked around before appointing Lampard.

Somebody from Portugal and some bald headed fella from Croccy were mentioned, the fella from Croccy didnt even want the job.

Im sure top managers will be banging down the door to join a side who has just escaped relegation and whose last 2 managers have been give under 2million to spend in 2 transfer windows.

And before you say it, no, we dont need a top manager and there are thousands of managers who would love a job here for 6months on 4million a year, that doesnt mean we should touch them.

Looking around on January 20th is probably going to look different than on May 20th I'd bet

Well I ask you this: have you seen anything to suggest that this time next year we'll be a consistent team with a consistent system and a more defined way of going about things week to week?
6 weeks ago I couldn't tell you anything about who would be in a Frank Lampard everton team and I don't think he knew what formation he would play.

Now I think he knows:
- we probably play 433 when we can
- mykolenko can cut it at this level
- mina is a genuine leader in this team
- iwobi can be a very effective shuttler on right of a midfield 3
- Richie will work his socks off, ideally from wide forward
- Gordon is a player he can build around
- We always need someone with an engine and some 'experience' in centre mid to organise
- Gomes and Keane, potentially Godfrey and Kenny are all gone due to their mental weakness

So yeah, I reckon he has learnt a lot we can take into next season. You say about Klopp but didn't he take like a year to figure things out at RS?

Right, so we should, again, disregard the fact we offered a decent manager a good amount of money and a contract so we can sack him and start over with all the plethora of literally no one else wanting to touch our dumpster fire of a team, so he can rebuild, and we can have *another* manager's transfers...

Nah man this is just BS.

Get it in your head - this isn't the NBA, we don't get playoffs here. Relegation is a thing. Don't care how we win right now - it's not indicative of any style or anything. We need wins, however they come, not style with nothing to show for it.

Lampard's teams have played decent possession based football and he fits the hard working team ethic we require as a fanbase. There is literally ZERO proof this won't be the case after a good pre-season and some new players in.

Regarding your example of Klopp - he took over a team in our situation (Mainz), around January/February and played garbage football to grind out 1:0's to survive, if that's not familiar to you currently I have no words. The hard working, pressing, tactics came the season after. When he bought players he wanted who fit his way.

Gerrard's Rangers team played great football as well, very organised, possession based. He came to the Prem can't afford to play that right now, as it's a different league and a different situation. That lesson was quickly learned.

Regarding your example of Palace - they've done the same thing we've done ffs, glad they looked better in a game vs Arsenal, but we also looked great against City and lost. Arsed about that currently.

Obviously, I can be extremely wrong, sure, granted. I'd rather we stop the revolving door of crap managers though. The only good one we had recently was Carlo and he jumped ship. Lampard will definitely get decent results, gets the team, gets the league, is a legend of the game and looks to improve by not sticking to some dumb way of playing for the sake of it but being practical. Having a plan B feels nice at times too.
