2021/22 Frank Lampard

There is no agenda. I am skeptical of Lampard. At the time of his appointment, I didn't see what he had done to merit the job. However, he has shown enough since the Burnley debacle to suggest he can grow into it - and this is the key. He deserves a lot of credit for the last few results. However, that credit will drain away if we manage to lose tomorrow. So, it can go either way right now. Win tomorrow, and he will basically have confirmed his suitability in the most powerful way: by keeping us up. That was what he was originally appointed to do. He will have convinced a lot of doubters - people like me - that he more than merits the chance to rebuild the club. My position is simple: keep us up and rebuild us.
You make him sound like a lekky meter.

I see, well apparently had he lose to Utd they would have sacked him and appointed Allerdyce
I am Spartacus.

I wrote a post saying this, and it was based on the fundamental premise that relegation was death. We had lost 5-0 at spurs, 4-0 to palace and we were getting dragged in to the bottom 3. Losing to Utd would have left us staring down the barrel and I’d have rather risked it all rather than go down with that “sunlit uplands” propaganda. But he did win, and showed he can set us up differently (playing kenny is on its own a sackable offence), and I am ever so happy we are where we are. I acknowledged that on here and genuinely like the guy.

However, he’s been much better at galvanising the fanbase than he has been at improving our performances, we were a Pickford away from still being in the bottom 3. A lot of work has to be done on the pitch, but I am excited to see what Frank can do.

Apology accepted.

Howe at newcastle had 1 win in his first 9. They then became one of the form teams in the league, winning like 10 of their last 16.

It takes time to adapt and start getting results and figure things out. Lampard showing similar.

We should have hired him much earlier.
Correct mate, about a week after Ancelotti left would have worked for me.

I'm wary of the managers who get the famed 'bounce'. They usually fall away.

Lampard looks like he's come through a stern test at Everton, and he'll be all the better for it.

It's one thing going to other clubs who are threatened with the drop and maybe failing to save them, but Everton have a seven decade unbroken history in the top flight and the pressure has been enormous on him to get on top of this situation and preserve that status.

Next season will tell us if he's a manager who can get us playing better football. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. But if he just keeps us up this season he'll be well thought of by us all forever.
Dave, I know you love hyperbole and I love you for it but.....

Frank is the figurehead of a team of people. Mainly the team and coaching staff (of whom Dunc is the best... Don't bite).

Frank alone is not the Messiah.

I reckon they're the difference, or will be. The group, the coaching staff as a whole. And as we've seen / been recently, we're all working much better as a collective. Amazingly, you included.

Frank and his team (with more time) will improve the players we have (those that want to be here and have the right mentality - well done Anthony and Alex btw.). Hopefully buy well, within a collective structure (board, dof) and be able to implement their playing philosophy over time.

It's not always about the individual.
