2021/22 Frank Lampard

Correct. The Mosh and The Architect.

Lampard I think will be a decent manager, but it took him about 8 games to see that you cant set up in an open way with this lot.

Fell into the same trap the Waiter did by thinking the squad was better than it is.

Waiter never changed it and blamed everyone else. Frank took his time but realised "k'inell these can't pass a ball to eachother" and shifted tact

Howe at newcastle had 1 win in his first 9. They then became one of the form teams in the league, winning like 10 of their last 16.

It takes time to adapt and start getting results and figure things out. Lampard showing similar.

We should have hired him much earlier.
I'm wary of the managers who get the famed 'bounce'. They usually fall away.

Lampard looks like he's come through a stern test at Everton, and he'll be all the better for it.

It's one thing going to other clubs who are threatened with the drop and maybe failing to save them, but Everton have a seven decade unbroken history in the top flight and the pressure has been enormous on him to get on top of this situation and preserve that status.

Next season will tell us if he's a manager who can get us playing better football. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. But if he just keeps us up this season he'll be well thought of by us all forever.

How big a job of work do you think that is mate?

Yes, and a lot of fans could see where he was going wrong and thankfully the penny dropped.

IMO I think he believed he could go all out playing for wins and secure our PL status pretty quickly. He was quickly disabused of that notion and the fragility of the players' mentality must have been a shock.

Just watched Lampard's presser. Credit where it is due he does speak well. Makes a refreshing change from the usual smoke and mirrors that you get from many managers.
You can tell listening to him he is intelligent, he speaks well, eloquently and with a clear understanding

Music to my ears mate, think exactly the same, be actually a relief.
This club has been spending cash like a drunken sailor for years. A sickening binge that others must have looked on with some disgust...and justifiably so.

We need to get back to basics and have players who have a big heart - you can get that without breaking the bank. I'd also hope that Lampard could get a favour from Chelsea and bring one of their emerging talents in on loan. We're no threat to Chelsea.

Good post mate, all of it to my mind is spot on, if you watch him closely - he's canny, hes engaged all key stakeholders, players, club, fans - hes got the best out of them all and all streamlined, clever.

While he has a plan A in terms of approach, hes pragmatic and experienced in the game to know plan B is required at the moment. I think the transition from A to be next year will be a big job of work, like you i don think throwing money around in the answer, but hes changing a culture and standard thats wrong throughout the club. It will be boom and bust, but growing pains are required.

An interesting period to look at is when he got the Chelsea job and they had the transfer ban, he made some big calls there, had a clear vision and philosophy, it really worked. If anything spending money in his following year (i doubt they were his signings) messed everything up. Take note Everton. That time and his time here so far are showing a lot of parallels, galvanizing, getting the best out of whats there, making it productive and we see a picture, skills and identity of him as a manager emerging. In many ways at this level hes never really got a chance to build of his own bat to my mind.

*Presuming we stay up.

It’s already starting again in the presser today and on here

Delph is worth keeping on

Coleman is an exceptional captain, he can be backup for another year

Keane is in really good form, a model professional

How many times do we need to be stung by the same bee to not do the exact same thing over again.

You cannot rely on these charlatans, every manager had said the same thing about them until they’re losing so many games in a row that they’re fired. It was only a few weeks ago Lampard was rightly calling them out for having no cojones. Now because they’ve put an ounce of effort in to save their sorry hides and their precious contracts we want good old sentimental fc to reward them again?

I hope this is where Thelwell earns his money. ‘That’s great Fabian but you’ve been injured for three seasons and apart from three games for us you’ve been utter dross, so thanks very much but on your way now’ ‘Frank here’s our shortlist of holding midfielders on lower wages who actually want to play for Everton and have resale value, pick whichever one you want’
