2021/22 Frank Lampard

Bit of a contradiction. The last sentence is nearer the truth
Oh Lampard didn't do well tonight. He left poor players on way too long and let the game drift. We had full control in that second half but he didn't have the balls to push on. There were changes there to make.

However, I can - to an extent - understand him not having the bottle to make that change because if it had left us open at the back then we might have gone and lost it.

Well we know we're in trouble when we are relying on a player who hasn't scored in 15 games to score and a player who'll probably not score 10 again for the season.

We are toothless because

A) DCL has been injured the majority of the season
B ) Richarlison, Gray and Gordon have the mental capacity if a 5 year old kid when it comes to making split second footballing decisions. I've seen more.chemistry in a set my sister got for Christmas in 1986 ffs
Gray and Gordon as our creative players in this system is a huge flaw when we have the ball.

Which is why Lampard should have either switched the system or the players. He left it too long, let it drift.

It bothers me that Frank wasn't able to win this one for us, tactically it was fairly clear Watford would not muster very much. The changes were slow to be made when they finally came. If we are hoping to be back playing premiership football next season, he has to work a way to beat teams of that quality imo.

Ah ha! (taps nose)

I'm trying to stay calm and keep a clear head. We beat Brentford at Goodison earlier in the year. We can do it again. If we win, we will be safe.

Its about holding our nerve now. Goodison will do its job so hopefully the players respond.

These players have done these miraculous turn arounds before. Under Allardyce, under Silva, under Carlo, even under Benitez at the start. Until I see more than half a season of sustained form from them I don’t trust them as far as I can throw them.

It’s in their interest to avoid relegation at the moment, to play well and survive the summer window. When it looked like Benitez had a few of their numbers with Digne leaving it became their interest to get rid of him, just as they did with Koeman and Silva. When the players see their contracts under threat, they get managers fired. That’s their MO.

Lampard therefore had a golden opportunity to swing the axe this summer but I would bet a lot of money that we’ll see stories of ‘Coleman is worth another season’ ‘Keane is ready to knuckle down under a new manager’ ‘Kenny is a blue, another extension is only logical’ ‘we don’t need a midfielder with Davies back to fitness’. Then when Lampard starts to realise he’s made a massive mistake and draws up plans for getting this lot out in January, they’ll turn as they did on all the other managers and have him out before the Jan window.

As a club we need to be brutal this summer. A few games of decent performance from these charlatans shouldn’t overturn the abysmal application they’ve shown over the last 18 months under Ancelotti, Benitez, and Lampard until a few weeks ago.
Absolutely. I make 5 of tonight’s starters who should have played their last game for this club come the end of May. And that is being generous and overlooking the wider squad.

Huge rebuild. Again.

I think Frank went for the point tonight, I don't agree with it and it was a horrible showing but I understand it. I imagine he probably just wants to get things over and done with and be able to bring his own people in and create his own thing.

A positive of him is He's very likable in how connected he is with the supporters but I think that's a negative at times as I think he thinks like the average fan does.

Not rotating personnel or changing system because you "cant change a winning side".

I remember when King Carlo Italiano Snake would tinker or put someone in an odd position that would have us all baffled or fuming pre match but come 90 minutes it was clear why he did it.

Feels like that's consistently missing from Frankels management since he's been here.

Oh well onto the next game.

Not as easy as that. Anything that exposes our defence is risky.

There were no attackers to expose Tim ffs

The only time they had a chance was when it got punted long once in a blue moon and we gave a foul away. About 4 free kicks that was the sum of Watford.

Hodgson brought on a CB ffs to hold on for a draw lol lol lol

Not sure with this team Mac.

I honestly think the best cause of action early in the 2nd half would have been Iwobi central and leaving the rest as is. But, Lampard is worried about that defence. Understandably so.
slightly OTT by me with the 3 subs at HT

8 subs would have been better and released them all on free transfer at half time and we'd be all the better for it ;)
