2022/23 Frank Lampard

Why do none of the journalists who cover the club ask the obvious questions about our summer recruitment

I want to know who chose our transfer targets

I want to know who decided to put all our faith in an injured Calvert-Lewin

I want to know why forwards were not prioritised

I want to know why the club did not have a replacement lined up the second we sold Richarlison

If Lampard had any part in these decisions then that's another reason he should no longer retain his job.
Probably because if they do uncle Bill will give them a telling off for saying nasty things and they won't be allowed back to GP.

Games changed. Years gone by you could look at the manager and say very cleary..your players. You're responsible.
Now? Just look at that ancelotti interview about doucoure. He was 100% signed by marcel brands. The manager admitted he didnt really want him.

Looking at what it took for Moshiri to finally act and replace previous failing managers, it's clear he has shown a lot of patience to Lampard. His record of 3 wins in 16 is on a par with the 2 in 13 that did for Koeman and the 2 in 11 that was the end of Silva. This is either an admission that Lampard has had fewer financial cards to play or a sign that Mosh has lost interest.
Unfortunately the most worrying thing is the lack of interest from some of the players. After the Bournemouth farce and the long break you would have thought there might be some improvement.
Only a matter of time now.
Blaming tbe fans, saying we were always going to be in a relegation fight after last year.
We are in one now, yes we are and he is going put the door because of it
Bad result against any of the next 3 teams he is gone
I’m sure the fans that went to Bournemouth twice in a couple of days, yesterday and Goodison and the one’s going to City and 9,000 to Utd in the cup had/have some optimism in getting at least a decent performance from the team. The support turn up, unfortunately the players don’t.

The support gets blamed for conceding last minute goals now. That's the contempt they are now held in by the people they have kept in a job.

The cause of their goal was more worrying than who was Left back....it was our lack of movement and options up front....we had the ball (with no pressure from wolves) for a minute, and our defenders kept passing it sideways and back....there was no one out wide trying to show, there was no target man upfront, or attacking Midfielder trying to make a run....zero options, zero ideas....

then the crowd gets annoyed, we rush a long ball pass, lose possession, and they sucker punch us

Its a simple game, made difficult by other factors.

If nothing is on, keep the ball. They panicked and caved to the crowd pressures and frustrations, it lost is the game.

I mean im all for a bit of criticism. But full of goals? He plays in the academy against the likes of hartlepool. Im all for throwing him on. But let’s not make out he left jimmy greaves on the bench.
Taken out of context, I haven’t suggested he is the next Jimmy Greaves.

I’m not saying he’s proven or full of PL goals but he is bagging regularly for the team he plays in.

So for that reason and the reason that our forwards are dire, then surely you would give him a go wouldn’t you?

Is it really too much to ask for our players to show some urgency and try to get the ball forward in the last minute of a home game against bottom of the league?

Our tactics from lampard are for passive slow build up football with no purpose. I'm glad the crowd dont stand for it because it is absolute ineffective dross. There is nothing likeable or impressive about our style of play.

The main concern i had with the winning goal was our reluctance to stop the attack with a professional foul. An organised side would have been queuing up to take one for the team.

He’s a nice guy and I think we were willing to give him a chance but sure his chances now are becoming very very thin? It’s a problem when the results start to catch up with the performances. At the start of the season we were playing okay and picking up points, even if it was draws with the odd win but now we are being beaten almost every week and the worrying thing is that the people who are now beating us are the teams we are competing with for relegation. We aren’t facing good sides and losing, we are being shot down by absolute dross. I’m sorry but there is no excuse for a side losing against that Wolves team. If they played any side in the top half yesterday they’d have got thumped by 3 or 4 goals. We let them beat us and that’s how it was at the end of Benitez and his reign. We were happy for teams to come to Goodison and win.

This is the most galling part: you could see where it was heading as we missed those key chances. Like a few games this season, we've fluffed our chances.

I get the doom and gloom and I understand the concerns, but it feels as if we're making more chances this season and have a far more solid defence.

The difference is that last season we had someone who could score when required; someone with that magic. Right now, we lack that ability to convert.

We can't rely on Dom, so if nothing happens soon in terms of transfers, then I admit we're in trouble. If we can get someone to score, I think we'll be fine.

Is Lampard the person to do it, though? I'm really not sure any more because week-in, week-out, we appear to be doing the same ol' thing that isn't working.
Oh the chances we miss is just gross ineptitude

Gray against Tottenham - balloons the ball over from 4 yards out
Onana against Tottenham - runs from the halfway line draws the keeper and blazes over
Davies against Bournemouth - one on one the keeper sits down and practically clears the stand behind the goal
Iwobi against Leicester - clear on the edge of the box and fires wide
Calvert-Lewin against Leicester - one on one straight at the keeper although to be fair this was a shot on target.

Not one iota of composure shown at all if any of those go in it's a different game with a different result.

Regardless of whether he can do this once he gets more players in Jan, he has to manage what he has in the moment. This includes holding his nerve when on terrible runs like we are now and playing crap. His comment about having control at the end and the crowd getting edgy just really shouts “manager losing his bottle and on the way out”. Having control ffs….we needed a win and weren’t even able to play basic football and move the ball up the pitch. I’d say majority of fans in the stadium and around the world were shouting at them to get up the pitch in that bizarre spell before their goal. With him saying having control and Mina dancing when we scored, I wonder do they have any idea how stressed and on edge the fan base is right now. Just utterly out of touch.

I think if he was so close to the sack he'd have been sacked after Bournemouth to give time.

You don't give him that break to sack him after one game.

I don't think there's any appetite from Moshiri or Thelwell to change it yet, but that'll change when we fall into the bottom 3.

Reactive, as always.
We get trashed 4-0 away vs City I think he will be gone.

Well yes we need movement from forward players, and runs from wingers and midfielders….but that was not happening….so we need to keep the ball….not hound the centre halves to make something happen.

You say bottom of the league team as if thats far from where we are, we are 3rd or 4th bottom, not much between us at all, it was quite a level match up of 2 similar teams. But 1 had a new manager bounce.

Im not a fan of lampard as such, and he is slow in making changes, but that was not on him yesterday. Players failed, again.

But thats the level of player we have in the main, low half prem players.

This season is all about staying in the league.

Signing attacking players who can actually do something in the final third gives us the best chance of that.

But then, IMO, a Dyche or Pochettino increases the odds of us staying up too.

But we're knackered and going down with this team. Felt like I was the only misery when the window shut but I could never see us scoring the goals to stay up.
