It’s madness that the recruitment team think McNeil, Gordon, Gray and Maupay are adequate attacking options.

I dont think they did mate - I have given Lampard stick but I dont think recruitment was easy for him/Thelwell this summer as it wasnt for Benitez last summer as the financial restraints were heavy.

We tried signing Cornet prior to McNeil but couldn't structure the deal and we were a whisker away from securing Kudus who could have transformed our attack on his own but Utd signing Antony meant Ajax pulled the plug on the loan deal.

We had to sell Richy just to allow us to bring anyone in.

Benitez/Lampard/Thelwell are victims of Walsh and Brands reckless spending in terms of recruitment.

We cant keep burning through managers, it is patently obvious, we have no goal threat, get a striker in who can score goals and bring others into play, moving the play further up the pitch and this looks like a different side.

McNeil and Maupay for £35m was madness though. We could sign one good player with that money.

It's not just a striker at all. You need people that can link up with the striker, Gordon cannot do it, he's gash and people need to wake up to it. Has absolutely ZILCH end product

So basically, it’s not Kevin Thelwells fault for having the entire summer to identify attacking options and the furthest he got was Burnley and Brighton

There’s literally no accountability at his end, that knowing the we had to sell Richarlison as far back as him arriving at the club, and he failed to identify a suitable replacement from an entire world of thousands of players.

He spent the best part of 6 months looking for an attacking threat and came back with a man who hasn’t hit double figures in his entire career.

Yep, and as sad as that is. Thats where we currently are.

That point would have moved us up the league.
The way we were passing sideways with no purpose makes me think they were going for the draw. Unfortunately you're far more likely to concede with that sort of negative mindset than if you show iniative to pen your opponent back in their own third.
