2022/23 Frank Lampard

What will everyones emotional state be like when relegation is confirmed? A stadium like Goodison Park with the illustrious history it has will see out her time outside the top division.....

I swear some would cry more for Lampard getting sacked than Everton going down!

Well look how that turned out yesterday….

Would have been better keeping the ball, taking that point and getting off the pitch
So, same scenario vs Brighton and Southampton, we do the same, keep ball and be content with the draw? And what, hope the final scores come up and everyone in the bottom six has lost…sounds a great idea.

So basically, it’s not Kevin Thelwells fault for having the entire summer to identify attacking options and the furthest he got was Burnley and Brighton

There’s literally no accountability at his end, that knowing the we had to sell Richarlison as far back as him arriving at the club, and he failed to identify a suitable replacement from an entire world of thousands of players.

He spent the best part of 6 months looking for an attacking threat and came back with a man who hasn’t hit double figures in his entire career.

good attacking players cost money which we never had.

He also targeted Kudus who none of us on ere knew much if anything about who now this season has burst into being a top top talent on the CL stage which shows he does have an eye for a player but Ajax pulled the plug on the deal.

Some just dont like him because he's a Liverpool fan who looks like a Math Teacher and were calling him "Kopite Kev" just days into his job.

We cant keep burning through managers, it is patently obvious, we have no goal threat, get a striker in who can score goals and bring others into play, moving the play further up the pitch and this looks like a different side.
The only reason we "keep burning through managers" is we keep hiring duds.

When you know you have a dud, even slow learners like our board have to finally act. We have to stop hiring bad managers. One way to mitigate that is to look for a CV. That won't always ensure a good appointment, but it gives you a better chance than hiring somebody because you like the cut of his jib.

Why do none of the journalists who cover the club ask the obvious questions about our summer recruitment

I want to know who chose our transfer targets

I want to know who decided to put all our faith in an injured Calvert-Lewin

I want to know why forwards were not prioritised

I want to know why the club did not have a replacement lined up the second we sold Richarlison

If Lampard had any part in these decisions then that's another reason he should no longer retain his job.

While I do agree with a lot of that, I think we had a choice to make and that was to prioritise the defence and add strength to the midfield or go for attackers.

Either way we had too much to do in one window and we were always going to be deficient somewhere until Jan or maybe even the summer

Just wonder who came up with McNeil and Maupay though.

Just wonder who came up with McNeil and Maupay though.

Every DOF/manager signs the odd bad player - Liverpools DOF is boss yet just spunked £80 millions on a South American Andy Carroll.

Fans beat Lampard/Thelwell with McNeil/Maupay but then dont give either credit for Coady/Tarks/Onana and scouting Kudus who again its not their fault Ajax pulled the plug on that deal.

Every game and scenario is different.

Had we been peppering wolves all game and was close to scoring, yes go for it.

But that had not happened at all, you could tell how the game was going and our only progressive passing defender was off the pitch.

At that moment on 92 mins in a game we showed very little…..keep what we have.

Kudus was always just the next Diaz etc. players the club leak being interested in whilst having absolutely no intention of ever signing

I don't think anyone came up with them as such, the issue was (and still is) we could only do structured deals with a low cost upfront. Most clubs are not even going to entertain this idea unless they can afford it as they also need money themselves to replace said player/strengthen in other areas.

Guess what, they don’t. Good attacking players that play for a top club cost large amounts of money.

And he’s agreed to pay close to £35m for 2 players who haven’t hit 40 top flight goals between them - for a team that STRUGGLED to score, so much so we almost got relegated.

He’s failed, he failed in the summer because attackers should have been lined up for the day after Richarlison signed for spurs, and when I mean attackers I mean actual attackers.

Not dross that everyone could see was poor and couldn’t get into the Burnley side.

We have tried every type of manager
I've seen this said quite a few times now. It's not true. Post-Moyes, we generally appoint either the biggest name available, regardless of their skillset, track record or fit for the club. It's true to a degree in all our "permanent" appointments that what we need from a manager seems to be less a consideration than how famous they are.
Martinez was the next big thing, but his team had finished lower than they had under the previous two managers.
Koeman was a big name player, but his managerial record was patchy at best - he'd never taken a team higher than their size and budget suggested.
Allardyce was an ex-England manager and was a panic appointment. TBF, he had overachieved with Bolton early on, but was only ever a firefighter (thankfully).
Silva was the exception - he had taken a team from 10th in the 2nd tier to 5th & 4th place finishes in the top flight in 3 seasons. Sporting won a trophy for the first time in 7 seasons and Olympiacos achieved a record winning streak under him. Patchy at Hull but up to the point we showed an interest, had Watford flying. A look at Fulham now shows what he's capable of - sad it didn't work here.
Carlo was the biggest name around, but as exciting as it was to have him here, it wasn't a great fit. He'd always worked with top teams, big stars, winning trophies. We were trying to get a top half finish with a disjointed squad.
FSW also a big name but hadn't really done anything of note for years. Anyway, nuff said about him.
Frank hadn't done anything of note either. Did he improve Derby or Chelsea from what they were before he arrived? No. Big name though...

Compare this with Brighton. Imagine the fume if we'd appointed someone like Potter straight from Swansea or de Zerbi. We (board and fans) have got to start looking at candidate's actual records rather than number of Instagram followers or it'll be rinse repeat until the club goes down the pan.
