We can’t buy 2 number 9’s I don’t see the point in that, one with a wide player who can score and create. Chelsea getting linked to a lot of midfielders, maybe try a loan for Gallagher

Some of us said that Lampard was a PR appointment at the time. If he was popular - and you are right, he was - it was because people accepted the really low-quality hit list that these useless charlatans leaked in lieu of actually having a proper succession management policy at the club. I mean, that would be work, so far too much to ask for.

The board played a blinder in getting the immediate heat off themselves. But the Lampard shield was always likely to be a very temporary defence mechanism - and so it has proved.

With Bill getting older and in dubious health, and Farhad compromised by sanctions and failure, one wonders if even the will exists to try to rectify the situation this year.

In the end, they might all be too old, tired, and broke to even attempt to ride to the rescue. A perfect storm.

Lampard did his job last season and was the right choice at the right time

Whether he is still the right person is a whole other debate. The evidence certainly suggests he is not.

As for his association with Qatar, well, I wouldn't hold that against him given the stampede of so-called respectable people lining up to take their gold. I mean, even the sainted Messi is in cahoots with the Saudis. As obnoxious as all of this is, I'm not sure we can afford higher off-the-field standards than the competition given we are happy to accept much lower on-the-field standards.

Towards his last few years he was vocal about getting more money, always after a payday, etc.

Don't think he's the role model we think of him, basically. A lot of Aussies I've seen online have taken a dislike to him, fully acknowledging he's arguably the greatest Socceroo of the recent 20 years or so and at times dragged their team to/through tournaments.

I disagree. The bar was set so low: keep up a club that hasn't been relegated since 1953. I mean, most managers would have "done that job", arguably even his detested predecessor. I wouldn't give him too much kudos for that. Even Allardyce, who people hate, did that job in about a month in 2017. So, yeah, he kept us up - but he went a long way to taking us down himself before he found a way. It was far closer than it ever should have been.

In my view, he was NEVER the right person. I said it then and I say it now.

No gloating here mate just wanted your opinion on his comments.

Personally thought they were poor and a kick in the teeth to the fans like you who worshipped him from day one and helped keep him in a job last season.

Last season was absolutely 100% a survival season when he took over

I dont see any realistic manager out there who could come and fix us. We are an utter shambles. Lampard will eventually go and its inevitable at this stage, but it will make next to no difference.

Where have I ever said I worshipped him you cretin? Please provide some evidence of this, otherwise do one…
