2022/23 Frank Lampard

Why ask me that question I wasn't involved and Maupay was a sound idea for a back up but as I always say, you only need an injury and your back up becomes your number one and we are there but maupay has a fairly decent return for Brighton, he's just not a lone striker.

I also thought he was quicker than he is, that clean through on goal and not getting a shot off, did me in a bit.

For what it is worth I agree we should have maybe spent it on one but the last forward we paid £35m for was Moise Kean, that went well didn't it.
Though we paid £27.5m. We would make our money back though loan and the fees from PSG and Juv.

Is it really an assumption though ?

I mean he had Richarlison for half a season and took us from 16th to 16th.

He's just not a very good manager.
Richy who was missing for two thirds of the season, gets away with murder that lad because he decided to turn up at the end of the season, he was gash for 2/3 of it let's be honest. He also begged us to let him play 2 tournaments and we paid the price for that with his fitness. Richarlison is not the god people seem to think he is.

It isn't just Lampard though we have a really good coaching team, all highly thought of and respected, at some point it's fine to say, the players aren't good enough.

I'm not going to answer your assumptions about who we may buy, it serves no purpose until it happens. A forward who can score and hold up the ball, link play, is what we need.

It is hard but I am holding my nerve until I see what January brings but the sad reality is, if you can't score regular, you will go down, simple as that really.

Aye up the anti-frank brigade are all here at once lol
I support him all along but 3 win in 17 (will lose to Citch) is too hard to take. I don’t want Everton to go down.

I get it man, I do, it is shocking at the minute but there are mitigating factors. If he can't get at least 4 points from Brighton and S'oton he will be sacked I have no doubt.
Say we get 4 points. 18 points from 19 games I still can’t see how we avoid the drop.

I don't know why anybody would think we need to go through further precious chances for points before making a definitive call on Frank Lampard's tenure. Doing so is not "holding your nerve." It's putting your head in the sand and gambling with the few remaining chances we have to rescue our status.

It's been clear since November that we needed a new manager. That's not hindsight. We should have the replacement lined up and ready to come in on New Year's Day. That's what a club learning from its mistakes would do.

It isn't burying my head in the sand at all, I'm fully aware of the situation, only I can see see the mitigating factors whereas you just want to stamp your feet so we have to go through the same drawn out process to hire the next duffer who can't get our forwards scoring, assisting or even making good decisions in the final third.

You're deluding yourself and dressing your patience or support for inaction up as some kind of canny bravery. It's nothing of the sort. The manager has failed. Sure, we know there are mitigating factors and we know the board is where the real blame lies, but the board are not going anywhere anytime soon and neither are most of the idiots we have on the pitch. So that leaves the very well paid manager with the very slight managerial CV. We're in the last-chance saloon. There is no nerve to keep. It's time for change. The longer we delay, the longer it becomes "drawn out" as you say and the shorter time there is for the new "duffer" to make a positive impact.

Theres no way anyone can claim hes a good manager

Even if he does keep us up its not a “ good job”

Say we come 16th surely we would still part company end of season imagine watching this quality of football all season just staying up and thinking it was postive

I have major nerves of our board selecting another manager that again doesn't move the needle. I thought Lampard's initial hire was very poor process (if one remembers we hadn't finished the internal review) and omitted a lot of glaring holes in the CV. Dynamics that frankly have basically played out. I see no reason why the board might make a similar mistake. Removing Frank doesn't mean they couldn't make an even worse appointment.

But that in itself is not an argument for Frank. Remove our mitigating factors internally, what is the strength he is offering with distinction in a vacuum when compared to the rest of the premier league managers. Removed of our current squad and standing I think its hard to argue he isnt a bottom tier manager in either inexperience or in skill. Removed of his player CV he likely wouldn't be in this position. The conflation of his stature in the game and what he is as a manager has continued to leave me perplexed.

Its there that the lack of precedent is an issue. As a fan I don't know what I am investing in the poor stretches for as the precedent or signs of what the pay off will be are not apparent. Frank seems to be finding out how to be a manager and what his strengths are. But beyond having been a great player, having a level of charisma because so I am not sure what would make me think he is worth that time in such precarious circumstances and with such a difficult job especially, but also broadly.

Of course his removal could make this worse. But if Frank is fired and they make a worse appointment with a similar poor process I think we were kind of screwed either way.

ok mate if you say so, I'll get angry about it instead and shout Lampard out, please tell me how the next manager gets these forwards scoring goals or making good decisions in the final third. I'm all ears.

It's not canny bravery whatever that means, I'm sick of nobody being allowed to get through a crisis, I'm not happy with things at all but I just can't see how it improves for anyone unless we buy forwards.
