Thing is I’ve been calling it out for awhile.
We have a delusional fan base. The rest of the world knows the man can’t manage and should be nowhere near our club.

It’s too much why you like the guy so much?? Because he’s English wtf.
Being English has zero to do with it, he’s likeable because he genuinely gives a damn about being at the club, more so than most of previous incumbents and I dare say more than most supporters

One of the more bizarre takes I've heard, because he's English lol, never even came into consideration. I don't and assume many don't care about nationality of manager or players, weird thing to say.

To be fair on him, he has a really weak squad. Don't think any manager could do much. Especially with how poor we are in attack.
You could say that about any team who aren't doing well. It's not true.
Pickford is an England international.
Tarks is a good defender
Coady was in the England squad.
Patterson is young but was also one of the highest-rated young prospects in the country last year.
Gana is one of the better players in a decently ranked international team. He was playing for PSG last season.
Onana was one of the hottest young prospects in Europe and plays for one of the highest ranked international teams in the world.
Iwobi came to us as a regular starter in an Arsenal team that had just finished 5th and were runners-up in the Europa League.
Doucoure was highly sought after when he was at Watford and scored 17 goals in 3 seasons for them from midfield - not bad. He played at every level up to U-21 for France before opting for Mali because he couldn't quite get a place for the then World Champions.
Gordon was (allegedly) subject to bids of £40+ million last year.
Ignoring Dom, for obvious reasons, we're light in attack, which is a serious issue, but our team on paper is not worse than most of the division outside the top 7. You wouldn't actually swap our whole team (not the manager) for Fulham, Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace or Leeds.

We have the 7th highest wage bill in the division. While not a perfect metric, it's the best single predictor of league position across all major leagues. You will struggle to find many teams in the whole of Europe who are underperforming as much as we are by that measure.

Where there are significant differences in wage bill compared with league position (i.e. 5+ league places), it's usually down to either (a) some structural issue, such as an FFP points deduction or (b) the manager.

If we had a manager who was achieving par with these players, we'd easily be mid-table.

Bollocks, sorry but bollocks.

We were a midtable team with Carlo Ancelotti as our manager and prime Richarlison, DCL upfront with James, Siggi, Signed in the team.

We’ve replaced them with Townsend, Gray, Gordon, Maupay and McNeil.

We’ve one, if not the poorest, forward options in the league. Our midfield has no goals in it. Our left back barely crosses the half way line.

The fact we’re spending £100ks a week on wages for people like Gomes, Mina, Keane and various other vastly overpaid deadwood is irrelevant.

Start of this season it was obvious there were no goals in the team, we’d struggle to score and we’d be down the bottom of the league. Mid table is fantasy, that’s where we were a few seasons ago - we’re miles from that now and it’s not the managers fault.

A half decent manager would have this squad mid-table.

Lampard is an utter failure and will replace Steve Bruce as the run of the mill crap manager.

The Premier League is pretty much the greatest advert for diversity and the embrace of internationalism that the country has to offer.

Just bizarre that anyone would think Englishness is such an overriding factor to modern fans that they’re happy to see their club underperforming because the manager is English.

He might be, he might not be, impossible to tell with the hand he’s been dealt here. The team is performing pretty much as I expected given the players we have. This is nowhere near a mid table squad, I’m afraid. Changing manager won’t change that.

Absolute nonsense. He’s had very little chance of succeeding here, selling Richarlison and then getting a pittance to try to replace him and the rest of the first team. The state we’re in and bringing Simms back is the best the board can offer.

Hung out to dry by the board.
But he or KT use the Richy money to sign McNail, Maupay and Garner instead of signing a straight replacement. That’s their fault.

Not at all, for a number of reasons:

1) he didn’t get all the Richarlison money, he had to be sold to balance the books for FFP.
2) we we’re overrun in midfield in every game last season and had to massively improve there.
3) our defence was weak as hell and we had to massively improve there.
Not significantly strengthening defence and midfield would have left us battling relegation again.

He got a crap hand dealt him and that’s it.

See ya Frank, you've been absolutely useless from day one. You spent 90m after we sold Richarlison for 50m. Net spend 40m, and you took us backwards. That is a stone cold fact. You thought McNeil and Maupay were good signings. Now you will fall on your sword. No hard feelings - just like Gordon isn't a good football player, you're not a good football manager. All the best and enjoy the lucrative severance payment.

Onana and Gana had nothing to so with the three I mentioned above.

I do not agree. Use McNail, Maupay and Garner fees to sign a player say Kudus. They tried to spend the goals with 3 no-mark hoping they will do the job.
