I’m not fine with the idea at all, I want us to win…badly. I’m just extremely wary about anything that implies we ‘should’ win or we ‘expect’ to win. We just have no basis for that expectation seeing as we’re one of the worst clubs in the league at the moment. Even when we were decent I’d never want to say that because any team in the league can shock anyone as we’ve just seen with Brentford beating City at the Etihad and then us smash and grabbing a point.

If we play well, we can win, same way we did against Palace. If we’re not at that level then any team in this league is capable of punishing us at Goodison especially Brighton who are decent.

We’re getting into the ‘have’ to win territory though so coyb.
Of course people want us to win, I'm just talking about people who are saying a point tonight would be excellent. It wouldn't, however we try to spin it. Your last line is dead right, and that's exactly the point i'm making: there's no shame in drawing with Brighton as an individual result, but looking at it as an individual result would be daft when it would be the 16th time we'd failed to beat a PL side in 19 attempts. That simply MUST change quickly if we're going to stay up.

Calvert-Lewin has proven that he won't succeed as a lone scorer. He needs a Richarlison type to generate ball movement and penetration into the box. Maupay is simply a guy to play in place of Calvert-Lewin and not a partner up front. In this window they desperately need another forward that can play with the other striker.

No they arent.

What good players do they have?

Utter horse manure that they are better than us.
They are a better side.
Mac calister, trossard, walk into our side.
Talk about a change in the mindset of fans!

This is Brighton mate ffs, as average as a team you are ever likely to see, are they better than us? Yes, are they miles better than us that a victory at home would be unexpected? Not a chance.

Any game at home like this we don't win I'm always walking out frustrated.
Brighton
I amn’t blaming Benitez for this season - the board are to blame for that, as they were with the position Benitez was in.

My expectations for Benitez and Lampard are pretty much the same, given the squad and position we’re in. Its a massive rebuild, one of the poorest squads in the division, with less money than most, if not all, other teams spend. I went into last season thinking we’d do well to stay up, results would be hard to come by, didn’t see how we were going to score or create and the same this season.

Beinitez isolated the big players and undermined his position to the rest of the squad with his “break them to make them” approach, which I thought at the time had a high possibility of backfiring on him….and it did. He broke the fragile morale of the team, there was no quality to fall back on and they went into a tailspin. That’s why he had to go.

We’ve got as poor a team as I can remember in 40 years, in as strong a premier league as I can remember - I’m not really surprised Lampard has a crap win record, it would be miraculous if he didn’t. So calling for Lampard to answer for his record, is again, more about your unrealistic expectations for the season.
we have got a poor team but I reckon moyes could get a tune out of them.
Want Lampard to succeed but i would
take moyes now if West Ham pulled the plug.

we've beaten leeds 3-0, brentford 4-1 and palace 3-0 at home under lampard

the problem is that these kind of results happen maybe once every 15 games

to suggest that this current squad is only capable of scraping past teams by the odd goal is simply untrue

the problem has been not replacing richarlison properly leaving us with an injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin and maupay as our only options which is simply not good enough

not many people are suggesting we are a top 10 team, i would have been happy with 12th or 13th. This squad should not be fighting relegation every season with the amount of money spent on it.
You say we're not a team capable of only scraping past other teams at home...then identify why we are by pointing to an attack that - shorn or Richarlison - cant get us goals in sufficient numbers.

We're WORSE than last season. That's down mostly to the board in not providing enough funds. Thelwell is culpable and Lampard get a lesser amount of the responsibility for that recruitment failure.

If we win this game tonight I wont be amazed as such as surprised...because it will be a surprise if we beat Brighton. A draw an win against S'ton is more likely.

No idea why you have responded Brighton to my post?

But in regards to your first bit claiming Macalister/trossard walk into our side, they do ye.

As would Pickford, coady, tarkowski gana and maybe a few others into theirs.

People making out on here a team with Danny welbeck as their striker are boss.

I reckon Southampton beat us, they outplayed fulham away the other day, we on the other hand are atrocious.

But you bring him up even when you’re not directly responding to a question about him, such as the below from yesterday:

The little plump kopite just lives in your spiritual head doesn’t he?‍♂️

I was responding to someone claiming I gave Benitez more rope than I have Lampard so no I never "brought" Benitez up ?‍♂️

The only one obsessed with Mr Benitez is you and your acolytes who hate someone you've never even met ?‍♂️

Brighton are so much better than us in all phases as a club at this point in time, regardless of whether people want to admit or not. Obviously the management, structure and recruiting are absolutely miles clear of us. The talent on paper isn't necessarily much better, but who cares? They are a much better team have been for some time now. It doesn't mean we can't win tonight. They certainly have some weaknesses.

To bring it back to Lampard, while I would certainly swap out some of our players for theirs (Trossard is definitely one of my favorite players in the league) I wouldn't swap Lampard for De Zerbi. We don't know enough about him as a manager in the Premier League yet. I'd certainly swap Lampard for Potter in a second, though. He's probably going to fail at Chelsea because every manager does, but the work he did at Brighton was outstanding. He helped instill a lot of the structure with his vision. The big missing factor for Lampard is vision in my eyes. He's been here almost a year now and I don't really understand his vision. It wasn't obvious at Chelsea either.
