I still can't get my head 'round taking Godfrey out for McNeil and changing formation. One who was lauded by everyone for keeping the viking relatively quiet(footballing wise) and the other who hasn't discovered he has two feet yet.
On top of the obvious 'who deserves to start' issue he also pointed out Brighton were a possession team similar to City and didn't treat them as such.
Playing smart but not being clever?
I may be repeating myself and others' points but I just can't get my head around it, and seeing him with his arms folded on the touchline tells me FL couldn't get his head around why it was falling apart.
This isn't hindsight either, the majority I spoke to wanted him to stick with the set up at city for this one. smh

If he does stay on then he absolutely needs to drop the 4-3-3 and keep a 5-3-2. Have Godfrey/Tarks/Coady as the 3, Onana, Gueye and Iwobi as the 3 in midfield and have Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Gray to play in the Richy role. That's what worked for us before and sometimes it isn't pretty but it gets us enough points to stay in the league. The first time he plays 4 at the back he should be fired immediately, even before the game begins. We just don't have the players or ability to play with 4 at the back.
So your solution to our inability to score goals is to play with 8 defenders and 2 forwards?

Just seen the Joyce tweet - “a positive result against Man Utd is required for the Everton hierarchy to keep faith in Frank Lampard”.

They’re doing the same thing they did with Benitez, allowing his entire career with us to hang on the thread of one result. It’s utter nonsense. He’s either the right man for the job or he isn’t. One result doesn’t change that. Completely incompetent the lot of them.

You are right of course and in the big picture the Cup game tomorrow matters sweet FA

Hopefully 7-0 defeat tomorrow to make his position completely untenable. Even if we win we're just a round or two from going out, so no point of a cup run amongst a relegation battle.

Yep it's absolute nonsense.

So we lose to United he gets sacked that evening or Saturday, but of course Everton being Everton won't announce it until Monday.

Baines and co take charge for Southampton while they start the search because of course nothing will be in place.

They announce a new manager at some point but then there are only 2 weeks left of the transfer window and that new manager is absolutely stuffed by the sheer incompetence.

After we equalised at city we had a spell pushing for a winner. Granted we were under the kosh at the very end but one solution to not scoring many goals is not conceding so many either
Before the latest squad collapse we had one of the best defences in the league playing 4 at the back.

It’s the same personel issue that has happened at the end of every managers tenure here, players down tools and start shipping lots of goals, we could be playing 10-0-0 and we would be conceding loads.

As a fan group we encourage it by turning on any manager that tires to play attacking football and allow the squad to fall into the sweet comfort zone of negative football.

100%.

No managers should not stand or fall on a single result.

It’s absurdly juvenile thinking.

Are people really arguing keeping Lampard? Sacking the board would be great, but that's not going to keep us up this season, and neither is Frank!

It isn’t going to fix the club no, but it’s the most immediate thing that can be done to fix one of the problems. The board will take a little longer to drive out, but as a fanbase we must keep the pressure on and not fall back into a malaise like we did over the summer.

Im not talking about fix the club. Thats a war n peace level topic. Im on about the next few months.
Its possibly the only gamble left. The new manager bounce. The down side to that is the majority of players here are sh!te. I dont think lampard isnt getting the best out of a good squad. They're not very good and quite a few of them have thrown managers under the bus a couple of times
Saying all that. Its desperation times. Gamble it might have to be.
