You're assuming that they 'want him gone' with all that though. The logical thing to think is that they don't want him gone, but are aware that there comes a point where you just have to bite the bullet and say enough's enough. On that basis, yes, he's probably got to pick up results semi consistently in order to stay in the job. I think it's being blown up into something it's not, because it's effectively how every club operates. They clearly believed Lampard was the man to take us forward, if he is sacked at any point then it will be because they've changed their mind and don't believe he is anymore. There will always have been one thing or one game which tips the scales from the former to the latter, whether it was the Bournemouth game or United game makes no difference in that sense. Just to be clear, I would also have sacked him earlier, I'm talking about the logic of making the decision, not the end result.
If the story is right and they want to keep him then they you can’t be ‘giving him the United game ‘ , because the odds are (13/2) we aren’t going to win there .

If you want to make a decision then losing 4-1 at home to brighton , 2-1 to bottom of the table wolves or being Bournemouth’s only two victories in months should surely be a bigger catalyst than losing a cup game away to the team in fourth and second in the form table .

I’m just saying no manager can operate in that way , also it’s completely backwards as it’s an extremely difficult game to win and frankly it’s irrelevant. If the story was Southampton game or United and Southampton then it’d make a bit more sense .

Nothing about it surprises me mind . The board however are probably on top of it , looking through a 2005 Rothmans yearbook to pick Our next manager whilst seeing whose been bombed out by any middling premier league side to find out next big money signing .

What spoon-fed questions are the lackies going to ask in this press conference in 15 minutes?

It's actually going to be really good. He'll start off giving pat answers to boring questions and then the doors at the back of the room will crash open. Yer man who welcomes them all to the press conference will exclaim "good god! That's... That's Sean Dyche's music!" Then Dyche will run down the centre of the room and whack Lampard with a steel chair before grabbing the mic and officially announcing he's the new coach.

Vault me.

Brighton are so far ahead of us its ridiculous

I watch most teams in this league and right now only southampton look as void in ability as Everton.
We are not even anywhere near mid table good enough as there is certainly not 10 worse teams in the division.

I watched leeds v west ham last night. They both could have won it. But what really stood out is how mobile and attacking they both looked. And they are our neighbours down there.

I can only go with what my eyes see almost week in week out. Really average players who just dont deliver.
Yep I agree with all that but average is not 18th there is no way on earth we should be below Bournemouth and Notts Forest at this stage of the season their respective squads are nowhere near us in terms of quality it's all down to the way this manager is currently utilising them.

People say we aren't attacking and that is true but would we really be worse off going two up front with Maupay and Calvert-Lewin and 5 in defence with 3 in midfield and going long. I refuse to acknowledge that playing the same formation against Brighton as we did against Man City would have resulted in the the same scoreline.

Have you been drinking Uncle Bill's secret Moonshine again?

I just disagree really. You're using the same logic in your own post as you're saying doesn't stack up in real life. So what if we hadn't lost 4-1 to Brighton? What if it was 2-1, would that have meant it was OK for him to stay? And if Wolves hadn't scored with literally the last kick of the game, that would have been fine too? Or if Wolves weren't bottom of the league, even though that would have made no difference to the reality of the situation or the quality of our performance? It's simple, you are judged on your performance over time, and the perception of that performance will shift depending on your most recent form. All managers work under those conditions every day of their working lives, there is genuinely nothing odd about it.

This isn't a defence of the board. They're absolutely useless and I wouldn't trust them to make the right decision on anything. It's just that people are getting their knickers in a twist over something that makes sense on a basic level.

It's all happening.

His philosophy is survival though. Which is the philosophy we need for the next two seasons at least.
his philosophy was Burnley Football Club, a extremely small town with a very small following.

I know you’re all in on Dyche, and think he’s the next the saviour to this once great football club, but the reality that this is not Burnley. This is a 24/7, 365 day footballing city

What he did at Burnley, with his players at his club which he had full control of, does not translate easily to another team

It’s fine to disagree isn’t it ? I mean we agree on the board being useless , if we disagreed on that there would be an issue .

I take your point , I just think it’s mad to have arbitrary ultimatums, specifically irrelevant almost certainly unachievable one’s . I do take your point on level of performance but it’s a results business and if it’s us who break away and score against wolves or we score one of the three gifts they offered us then this whole argument is almost certainly framed differently.

All I , and I’m guessing you and everyone here , wants is for us to survive this . Regardless of what happens tomorrow I’m not convinced those making the decision are the the right people for the job so even that feels like it’ll be more of the same .
