2022/23 Frank Lampard

Even last time when it dragged out two weeks we know now that Moshiri and Usmanov were trying to shoehorn Pereira in from the moment Benitez lost his job after the Norwich game. Talks would have been taking place well before then I'd assume.

I refuse to believe that isn't the case again. I mean, Moshiri's investment hinges on our survival every bit as much as it did this time last season.
The golden rule is that you don't let someone go only for poor performance, you let someone go because you have a BETTER option lined up to improve our results.
Two things:
- There may be better options out there but Everton are unlikely to take anything other than the safest option available as survival comes above long term improvement right now.
- second thing is that this is Everton so all the Board actions are reactive not proactive. I'd love too think Thelwell has been on a manager hunt since thee Bournmouth double-disaster but likely he was looking for goalscorers who we now won't buy because we have an open manager issue.

I am totally in the dark about what the non-football staff of this club do all day.

I can't wrap my head around how a FA Cup match will determine Lampard's position as a Premier League manager. Whether he wins or loses is irrelevant to us staying up.

We all know 100% the board haven't spoken to a single other manager about interest in taking over. And they probably won't until after he gets sacked, but they have to wait a week or so to be respectful.

I think you can rule out Thelwell leading a managerial hunt. That, despite all the BS about a "review", is not the way Moshiri will do things. If he's at all still in command (which, admittedly, is open to speculation) then he's not going to hand over the fate of his share value to a no-mark DoF.

I think that's for the birds.

Someone will be getting sounded out.

IMO we'll see no managerial short list and interviews this time around. We'll see the coronation of the very available Dyche early next week.

Lots of people would have thought it was knee jerk after Bournemouth, that's just indisputable because there are literally hundreds of posts in this very thread which will back it up. The fact you - and I - would disagree isn't really relevant, the point still stands. Lots of people still thought he was the right man for the job until Tuesday night, and even now it's not like everybody's fully against him and it's gone toxic, he still has plenty of support even if many people have agreed that he can't really argue if he's sacked. I just don't see this as him being thrown to the wolves, he's being asked to do his job - which he's handsomely paid for - until the club decide he's no longer required. Everybody knows the stories that Kendall and Ferguson would have been sacked if it wasn't for Kevin Brock and Mark Robins, is this not just the same thing? We all know he's in the last chance saloon, but he's still got a chance to save himself.
He really hasn't. It's over bar the dancing. Yerry, probably.

What the know-nothings on this board thought or didn't think is immaterial if the board was doing its job. As always, it wasn't. Pretending he can still save his job is dissembling nonsense when all they are doing is hoping to buy time by dilly-dallying. They have learned THAT lesson at least from the sackings of Koeman and Benitez.

Lampard should have been sacked in November. That he wasn't and is now being put through this ridiculous charade is an indictment of the imbeciles "running" the show. And a show is exactly what it is. The latest Bill Kenwright Presents production.

I like Frank; I'd still love to see him go on a winning run with us. But I just want safety, so I dont care if he is hard done by through the long run governance of the club and their ineptitude not providing cash for a Richarlison replacement in the summer.

I think he has the stink of relegation on him and the only hope for us is to get a manager in who'll throw the kitchen sink at this and send the players out every game to get behind the ball - and when they have to it get in the opposition box with a big hoof if needs be.

We need a target man in for that, so whoever comes in needs to have one to work with ASAP.
Sadly I have to agree with that.

I had hoped that Frank would come to his senses and realise that this lot are incapable of playing the style of football he wants them to play - or the style of football he wants to be associated with - just as he did after the Spurs debacle last season. After the Wolves and Brighton games I've begun to lose that hope and suspect that Frank won't change this time as he doesn't want to be associated with teams playing in an Allardyce or Dyche style

Tonight's game is an irrelevance so he should surely have either gone after Brighton or they give him the Southampton game as well.

We definitely need a target man but also someone who can score goals at least fairly consistently - we've no chance of landing someone of genuine high quality but there must be plenty better than what we currently have.

Frank would play open football against the teams we can realistically get points off. That's his mentality. It'll defo relegate us if we allow him more games.

I truly believe he's being strung along to take this last game and get it out the way. I'm 99% certain he's managed his last game at GP.

With public pressure mounting on the board and owner, there will be a sacking to distract, it’s a well worn strategy when the heat goes on those in the ivory tower mate.

I thought you were part of the Frank in Brigade

I doubt a sacking will distract from the board - it puts the spotlight on them.

Not afraid to admit I didn't think he should be sacked pre-World cup - managers need a chance to try and turn things around - but he's had his 3 strikes now.

I'd still rather he turned it around because I don't think we have much to gain by desperately appointing another manager - better to do it in the summer.
