2022/23 Frank Lampard

I think it's a bit of a culmination of things, lack of investment, two terrible appointments in Lampard and Benitez who are wildly different managers in the first place, hamstrung scouts and sporting director, the worst board possibly in the country. Lampard isn't to blame for everything but as for the awful performances I think he can only look himself in the mirror. The idea that a forward stops us from conceding four to Brighton or Bournemouth is ludicrous and he needs to fix his tactics in the Southampton game or we are truly down.
Add in the stripping of most of the creativity and goal scoring from the squad over two years

I'm beginning to fear they have accepted relegation and the next period is about the management of expectations to that effect.

Still think Lampard will go but the key is the timing and he should have gone already.

I wouldn't be surprised if the clubs media hacks bring up the issue of FFP again and sell before we can buy as well.

If that is the case then candidates for the job will be assessed more on the basis of can you get us back up in the midst of a storm more than can you keep us up in the first place.

That makes it more likely we'd get someone like Dyche. Appoint anyone too late enough to do anything about it and give them no money and they'll be absolved. The narrative then changes from "I couldn't save them" which everyone accepts to "I'll do my utmost to get them back where they belong".

That's absolute fatalism but I fear the rot has set in.

And people still back this absolute clown because “we only lost 3-1 and showed a bit of fight” against United? There are fan sites on Twitter (Everton extra being a prime example) who were crying out after the Brighton demolition “Lampard has to go TONIGHT”, they’ve been repeating it every day since that game. Then after last nights performance in which we lost 3-1 and got dumped out of the cup don’t forget, they’re now going with “that was a lot better, we need to give him time and back him”.

Are people just incredibly fickle, or just really really thick?

The definition of relegation form.

Incredible how apathetic some are to this level of consistent failure.

Every day he remains as manager is a day closer to relegation.

The people responsible for the consecutive appointments of Benitez and Lampard should walk from this club.
Kenwright and apathy will be the end of this club.

Err, no. I take it you were not amongst the 9000 who cheered their team? One of them is worth 10 of you. The atmosphere was brilliant at the blue end. Where were you?

The rot has been about for years. Its settled in everton. Loves it here. It festers awaiting to totally engulf the club.

That is embarrassing as it gets. Getting beat by all and sundry, then not just beat us twice, but hammer us twice in a week, then back to losing every game after. Absolutely shocking and he should have gone after those games. What are some of our fans seeing for crying out loud? I can’t get my head around it. “Back him and give him more time”, sure you’re entitled to your opinions like we all are, but giving him any more “time” will see us relegated. His record is horrendous, what makes people think he’s suddenly going to get a tune out this lot?

I’m not having the “it’s not on him it’s the players, nobody else will do any better with them” crap either. These are international players, a lot of them costing a fair whack of dough. Some of those teams above us don’t have better squads, they just don’t. A competent manager with tactical nous gets this squad in a much healthier position. Not European places, but not sitting in the bottom three either. We cannot afford to let him take the Southampton game, the game is absolutely huge.

Just came here to post that. I like Frank but he has to go, he won't of course and they won't back him adequately so it's the board that will ultimately be our downfall as is fitting of their catastrophic time in charge.
