2022/23 Frank Lampard

It is potentially this for me. I am hopeful it works out, but he needs help if we are to ever truly know and the club is run worse than a market stall. In fact that's an insult to hard working market stall operators
That's sentimentality though, the exact thing that people are raging at our board for.

I agree with you, when Frank is sacked, and we can’t get the Poch/Tuchel, I think he should be given a chance. When you think about it, he did an incredible job at Burnley.
I'm not seeing it. Potter did an incredible job at Brighton but is tanking at Chelsea where expectations are higher, and though many of us would be happy with survival this season, our expectations still remain higher than those of Burnley.

He had 6 weeks before that Wolves game, 6 weeks!! After conceding 7 to Bournemouth before the break . You have to just admit its bias because you like his personality or something?

Both because I like the guy and the fact that I think if we don't stay up the right way, i.e. backing a manager and giving him time, then we are at best kicking the can down the road and we'll be back here until we eventually go down.

But, it's also valid to counter me if you think Lampard will defo take us down.

We can't say of course that 3 points on Saturday would be guaranteed under a new manager.

If we get them and Lampard stays as a result then given our desperation I'll accept that in isolation.

Given our recent record though, we can't afford anything other than three points.

He has been given too many chances in my opinion and they should be taking action to avert disaster now, not next week or beyond.

It is and it isn't. I want us to have a manager I like, that gets the job done. So far FL has one of the two sorted IMO
It is also a matter of practicality, we don't have any potential replacements worthwhile, and without that it is a mistake to sack him.
Our board are tits on a bull and have no contingency in place so I think we have more chance of winning these next two with Frank than without, especially as the players are still playing for him for all their limitations

You can't go back to basics when that's what you're already doing. It'd just be more basics. Maybe slightly different basics.
Still think Frank is trying to play out the back, through midfield etc too many passes before an attempt on goal, id be looking more direct, no more of this 433 that hasnt worked for a while, tighten up get bodies around DCL and get the ball in the box

Telegraph are basically saying he's got this game, and must win, the pressure is very high

Even if we scrape a win here, we could well return to a defeat the following week and he'd have to go then. The only way he keeps his job this month is by picking up 4-6 pts next two games imo and the players maintain a high level of commitment

the WB system is the way forward... tighter atb and a threat on the break because the likes of Gray and Gordon are better when the opposition aren't organised and in shape. It also means replacing McNeil with Godfrey in the starting line up and I'd play Godfrey anywhere on the pitch before McNeil

Potter has only been at Chelsea five minutes though, if they give him time and next summer, I reckon he will be a success.

Our expectations might be higher than Burnley but I don’t think they should be much higher, unfortunately we are a relegation outfit. Having higher expectations than we should do is part of the reason we are in this mess.

If you take a step back and have a look at the last few years and the way Moshiri has pandered to fan pressure, because of higher expectations, it is definitely part of the problem. If we accept, at this present time, that we are a relegation outfit and get a firefighter like Dyche in to settle the ship, we might get to BMD a premier league team. Once we are settled we can then look to progress.

Give Dyche a two year contract, get settled, maintain premier league status and if it’s still not for us, let him go.

There is no evidence to support Dyche as a firefighter
He avoided relegation with a squad he built himself, not the same thing
If we go 3/5 atb and grind out draws and a few wins by keeping it tight FL can do anything Dyche can. If he persists with going 433 at home because he thinks Evertonians want to see more attacking or whatever we are going down. He just needs to recognise this. The players are playing for him and besides.
We also have more threat on the counter than in trying to create by breaking a team down. 352/532 and we'll survive. Can't see how Dyche coming in with his old school 442 is going to guarantee anything.
btw Burnley were on their way down last season before he got sacked... he might have saved them, he might not, but either way there is no evidence to suggest he can come into a new club and fight relegation
