Arnautovic and Zapata. Amazing how Lampard obviously just wants to sign players the club has already been linked with over and over again throughout the years. Totally his responsibility and he is clearly in charge or transfers.
I don't think anyone thinks that he would choose those players out of everyone in world football though do they? It's more whether they're the best we can get when we're crap and have no money. When the market we're shopping in isn't changing, it's not that surprising that players we're linked with don't change either.

Wait we sign two players then we lose to West Ham then FL is sacked. Everton that.

Haha I've beaten homelessness and addiction my friend so Everton is small potatoes compared to them, but I just feel deflated, Everton used to be my escape from my awful life and now it's as if it's trying to mirror it. Since my wife's passing and my illness I just put more and more time into my children and the football club but now it might be leaving me too. When it rains it pours, don't even know why I'm saying this to strangers but it just feels like maybe you would all understand better. This was the club of my grandfather and my father and now I won't be able to pass it on to my grandkids, all the memories and stories.
Get yourself down to your nearest non-league club mate. Best thing I ever did. Still love Everton but gives you a real sense of perspective. I follow Bath City in the National League South. Normally between 1000-1500 on a match day and I go with my best mate a Villa fan. Goes for the same reason as me, to enjoy football again. We have a couple before, a few afterwards and then get the train home. £13 a ticket and actually a really decent standard of football. Chin up mate and well done for surviving all that life has thrown at you!

A good manager has us finishing mid table. Unfortunately we have waited so long that no other decent managers are now availible, as west ham and Bournemouth have found. Generally speaking a manager can produce about a 8 place swing
Waken up man! No manager has us finishing mid table. It’s as ridiculous as saying the Villa, Sunderland or Leeds teams that went down would have them finished mid table with a change of manager.

They went down because the board mismanaged their finances over a period of time, had to sell/move on their best players or high earners and replaced them with cheapie misfits who weren’t good enough to keep them in the league. That’s where we are now as a club.

We’re the current Villa Lerner meltdown team, every fan of every other club can see it, they all think we’ve got one of the worst squads in the league and we’re looking at loans, player sales or deferred payments to be able to sign anyone. Our targets are going elsewhere, we’re wing outbid by rivals and we’re scraping the barrel.

Get angry but at the board who’ve put us in this position. Frank can go but the problems will be the same, it’s pointless being angry at the manager - it’ll be the same with whoever we bring in. We’re in managed decline….and not very surprisingly, we’re declining.

This squad is not finishing mid table under any manager. Lampard doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing, but no manager on earth could get this squad above about 14th, it’s truly truly diabolical.

It's actually impressive how a £500m spend has been able to achieve a squad that wouldn't look out of place in the lower embers of the Championship. Most people couldn't do that bad a job if they tried, never mind got paid millions for it.

From a financial perspective, never resign ever
To be fair he’s probably also on a win-win as far as his future CV goes.

Being sacked from Everton hasn’t prevented previous managers going on to relative success.

You’d just put it down to what everyone would recognise, as a basket case of a club, that sack their manager every season, regardless of ability and despite the lack of funds.

Someone will hire him.

Some people are absolutely convinced he wanted McNeil (who we tried to sign previous window) and won’t see the pattern in front of their eyes about managers being shafted with crap players they don’t want.

I really don't think anyone is under the impression that Lampard came in and said 'OK i'll take the job on one condition; you absolutely must go out and get me Neal Maupay because he is my dream striker'. It's perfectly believable that he's said 'I want a striker with PL experience and a decent scoring record who's got a different profile to Calvert-Lewin' though, and that when the scouts and DoF have come back with the very limited list of names who meet that criteria, are in our price bracket, and would consider coming here to be a bit part player, he's said 'Yes Maupay is the one'. Other than about half a dozen in the entire world, every manager has to make do with players who would be way down their list in an ideal world. People love to make out like this is a thing exclusively reserved for Everton managers for some reason, as if Erik ten Hag really thinks that Wout Weghorst is the one player he needs to help United's title bid.
