2022/23 Frank Lampard

I went through and off the top of my head we've really only outplayed a team one time this season. We've got maybe 8 or 9 that were tight enough that the result could have gone either way and swung on a few moments. And then the other 10 or so we've just been well worse. Some of those you understand. We're not probably going to outplay City or United. But we got soundly outplayed by Leicester, Bournemouth, West Ham and Gerrard's Villa among others. It's just crazy how bad we are week to week. Not getting badly outplayed by Southampton but losing narrowly anyway was one of our better showings. Just so bleak.

Too many problems to list but I think the main ones are -

1. 3 at the back needs strong wingbacks and we have two of the worst.

2. Iwobi is not a CM even though he has some attributes like fitness, pressing etc. he lacks defensive awareness.

3. Gana is past it.

4. Gray is not a creator, just someone with pace.

5. No one can cross the ball or deliver a decent set piece.

Obviously we had a lot of injuries but seems like we’re getting past that now.

How to fix these issues - new wingbacks, one new winger, a top CM, and a backup striker. Basically all the signings we made in the summer didn’t work out and I don’t really see them getting it right now. Let’s just hope for a couple of these and pray. At least Danjuma is coming in.

Just not looking like it can change and it is a shame, he's still fairly popular because he tried at least to close the disconnect between fans and club, I will be grateful for that but not getting him a decent forward has cost him there.

Now he seems to be sticking with the same players that are letting him down every game. gana for instance has ben pretty awful but nailed on starter, Onana and iwobi hardly setting the world on fire. At some point I would have thought trying different starting elevens would be the thing to do, not just shuffling around what we already have.

We keep getting beat, something new needs to be tried under lampard or not.

It’s not like Frank really has options. Aside from Iwobi who shouldn’t play there. Onana starts and so does Gana. Otherwise it’s Davies. Can’t see Garner after coming back just walking into the team.

Basically all the signings over the summer weren’t good enough. Even someone like Onana who has been alright isn’t going to magically transform the team into a mid table team. The signings were whoever was available and wanted to come.

To a large degree I agree with your summary but it isn't true to say he hasn't options.
We have seen the same ten players on the pitch week after week giving us passive sub standard performances.

He made two substitutions at half time and the game changed but it was too late by then.

He has excluded Gordon almost completely and questions must be asked if he has some part to play in the dramatic loss of form of the player.

We saw Maupay at Brighton and we know what type of player he can be but at Everton he is completely lost.

Tom Davies played well yesterday but has not really ever been used and I think Stanley Mills had done enough to at least get a run as a sub but he seems to have disappeared completely.

A good manager makes players better not worse imo.

As soon as I saw the team yesterday I expected nothing from the game as it was simply a repeat of what we have been seeing since August.

He should never have been appointed, but he was and so now that has to be sorted. The board don‘t want the heat and the quicker fix for them is sacking Lampard and appointing a competent manager. A few wins, more points on the board and us out of the bottom three will IMHO reduce drastically the pressure on the fat cats on the board. That’s their first concern here you can be sure of that.

For us fans we just want to see a team that knows what it’s doing and has a plan. We know we are playing far worse than the ability of the players we have. When you’ve been beaten by all of the poor teams in the league you are the poor team.

My only hope is that the board has felt the heat and realised that the only solution is a competent manager this time.

Don't blame them for appointing him but the fact is the results have shown he is not good enough. We need proven manager who can help us rebuild and get the best out of what he has. Maybe Frank would have been OK if we had a squad of great players but we don't and Frank has no experience of building a team.

Getting out thought by moyes the dinosaur is the final nail for me, and he’s been getting out thought by many terrible managers all season.

His trusting the same useless spineless turds every week and tactical suicide are other huge problems.

There are kids with potential and lads we’ve recalled who should be starting ahead of proven frauds, but he won’t change.

He tried to unite the club and fans after Benitez, and to a large extent he did that, so I’ll credit him there, but the owner and board have undone all that good work in a few days.

I can’t hate frank, I think he’s doing and trying his best, in awful surroundings and circumstances, and the poor [Poor language removed] looks sick because of it all, but sadly his best just isn’t good enough (or maybe it is for this board since they have shat all over our motto).

Damning stats on motd last night. Only five players in the squad have over ten premier league goals in their entire careers. Coleman is our third highest scorer.

Demari Gray a goal every 530 minutes, Iwoni a goal every 840 minutes are our fourth and fifth highest scorers with 18 and 16 goals respectively their entire careers. Gordon similarly goal shy, McNeil even worse.

Same if you look at assists - there’s nobody.

Who can we realistically expect to get goals and assists? We’d be needing players to perform way above their career averages. It’s just not going to happen. The squad is bereft.

Changing a manager is going to do nothing with this squad - need some players capable of scoring and creating added. That’s the bottom line or we go down regardless of manager.

He should never have been given the job in the first place. He failed to get Derby promoted and was taking Chelsea backwards 'at a rate of knots' (at least thet were smart enough to sack him early). We were going to appoint someone else until an outcry from the fans made the board change their mind and appoint Frank (just as the same 'outcry' stopped us selling Gordon). We deserve all we get!

Just dont want this to get any worse than it is. Lampard saying he will "tough it out" If he wants the crowd to turn on him they will. They love the club and lampard is putting the club in serious danger. The board just need to take the decision out of his hands and get rid. Its gone beyond whether hes likeable or not. He refuses to change. Players follow his instructions. We continue to lose matches. He refuses to change and we end up with 1 point from 33.

The fans love Lampard and would never turn on him like they did Benitez. It needs to be made by the board, waiting for the fans to turn hasn't worked, its just made them turn against the board.

Crap list in the first place. Him the Mr. Nice guy and the armband manic. The fans chose FL I don’t blame them. We should ask why only these two were genuine contenders at the time.

The last line is the crux of our issues: we've rarely attempted anything different this season, bar switching from 4-3-3 to the five at the back, if at all.

I truly do believe that this squad has more capability than they're currently showing, but they aren't being utilised effectively. Still, there's issues with the squad.
