Benítez was an appalling appointment.End of.
He started the downward spiral on the pitch.

Came off the back of a season where we managed to get 59 points and transformed us into a side battling against relegation for two seasons in succession.

For me there’s nothing that shows the lack of ambition and just how out of touch with this fanbase the board are then appointing Benitez after a season with that kind of points total.

They all do it until it’s too late. Especially disappointing with FL as he is the one constantly saying we were obviously going to be close to the bottom again as we scraped through last time and have sold our talisman. Why on earth would you then try and “build slowly through the thirds.”

If he had the foresight to say he knew we would struggle, he should have been playing point scraping simple football from the first training session in summer. He’s scuppered his own excuse.
The worst way to play football is to impose a style that require our limited players to break a solid 8 man defensive wall at every attacking attempt. It is an impossible task for our players, or any players we’re link with. Lampard is living in obsess dreamland.

Yeah, and if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump his arse when he jumped. Anyone who understands anything about this club knew Benitez would never be accepted by the fanbase so he should never have been appointed. But Moshiri doesn't GAF about the fanbase and Egil is Norwegian, I'm not sure what your excuse is, mind.
I agree that he was inevitably the wrong appointment because he's a kopite. But he is a good Premier league manager and if he was supported by the fans (which he wasnt) then he would have done a good job here for sure.

“When I look at the squad I am happy. Now it’s time to get our heads down and work.”

(...)

“People are drawn to the striker situation,” he added. “Dominic Calvert-Lewin feels like a new signing as well. When I and we as a club look at how can we improve the team, to isolate and just look at the striker wasn’t the way to look at it. It was how we can strengthen throughout. We have to look at the collective. We have Calvert-Lewin – an England striker – and Neal Maupay, who is proven in the Premier League.”

The nice bloke changed his mind obviously
Exactly the crap being spouted out just like before Martinez and Silva were sacked.

I only backed Benitez until the new year when results were untenable.

People have a go at me because I had the bare cheek to give him a chance as the Everton manager, same as I gave Lampard.

Benitez had £1.7m budget and 8-10 key injuries and truth be told his points won earlier in the season ultimately kept us up last year as soft lad took over him and plunged us into the relegation spots.

Lampards had £85-90m budget, barely any key injuries bar Patterson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin and has a record worse than Benitez yet fans still call him a nice guy etc.

Baffling to me.

No, people have a go at you, as you‘re a massive spanner.

It’s unfortunate that things haven’t worked out for Frank but it is time for a change. It’s too bad our board is so incompetent that the truth of the matter is, whoever replaces Frank, is still under the direction of the leaders of this club. Change starts at the stop. The manager is just a middle man at this point.
