I’d be far more worried if we were being soundly beaten. Every game has had a goal being the difference between a draw or a win. We look far better set up than under Benitez and with a couple more additions and an actual striker I think we will be okay. Nothing special but we should survive quite comfortably unless something horrific happens.
Im not being an advocate for Benitez here, but we could realistically have 2 points from our first 7 games if we don't beat Leeds. Benitez had 13 from his first 5 and then lost all his players to injury.

To suggest we are going to survive quite comfortably confuses me. Particularly on the evidence of today where they hit the woodwork 3 times and missed a hatful of other chances in the game. Where do you expect that we are suddenly going to transform into something completely different and start dominating games instead of being outplayed?

Funny thing, is they all disappear, back into their holes again when we win and not a peep out of them.

You’d swear that some of them don’t really support Everton at all.
Its because those wins are a distant memory. We last one against Palace at home in a second half comeback for our survival.

It doesn’t make up for those issues, but it does make us more dangerous on the break when we are defending a lead. It gives the midfielders an out ball to relieve pressure or focal point for the attacks.

I get everyone is disappointed, but I’d have taken a point ahead of the game.

Tuesdays game at home is important though.
Yeah of course, we all know improving the attack is hugely important. It’s not our only issue by a long chalk though, that’s the point.

Tuesday is away unfortunately.

Honestly can’t see us getting a win till October when we play Southampton away. Even that isn’t guaranteed. Frank is going to be under huge pressure. Needs to fluke a result against either Liverpool or Arsenal.

In amongst all the bashing, have a think how many points we might have now if DCL Mina Godfrey Doucoure had been fit and the club had got Lampard a striker before the last minute of the window.

There’s enough problems with the team at Everton but if we continue to have our best players unavailable to the manager (this is happening season after season now) then all managers will continue to struggle.

'I'm disappointed we didn't hold on'

Everton boss Frank Lampard, speaking to MOTD:
"It was a tough game. This is always a hard place to come. I thought we played really well in the first half and scored a really good goal.
"I'm disappointed we didn't hold out. It's a fair point. There is a great spirit in the team and we will only get better."

On Anthony Gordon's goal and the speculation surrounding his future: "A player at his level should react positively and I thought he did that."

On talk of a £60m bid for Gordon: "It's not happened. Nothing has changed."

On new signing Neal Maupay: "He's a No 9 who can hold the ball up and be dangerous in the box. He has a good spirit and he's a good player. We need options up front. We are playing right now without mainline strikers. As players come back from injury and Neal comes in, we will be better for it."
