2022/23 Frank Lampard

I’d be far more worried if we were being soundly beaten. Every game has had a goal being the difference between a draw or a win. We look far better set up than under Benitez and with a couple more additions and an actual striker I think we will be okay. Nothing special but we should survive quite comfortably unless something horrific happens.

Yep, tighten up at the back and sharpen up upfront and we don’t have a major problem.

We have to transition away from being a team that just launches it and then defends deep. In that’d jest half there were times we were completely controlling the game and playing through the lines of a very good team on their own patch. We need to have some patience and allow Lampard and his team to keep working rather than demanding we go back to the same sort of football that had got us nowhere for years.

Scenario: It is December 2022 and Everton are 20th in the league

Moshiri - "why shouldn't i fire you frank, we are 20th, we have not won a game in the league for 5 months, what is going on?"

Frank - "well they have all been close games, and the game's we have lost have only been by 1 goal"

Moshiri - "fair enough"

No mate, like said I never wanted him but supported the team until he delivered the worst run of results in our modern day history

But why are so called Evertonians obsessed with his failures here, he gets the boot and you lot are still harping over him like the second coming
Not trying to dig up the past or anything, just think it's funny to watch you inevitably paint yourself into a corner defending the manager

He needs 2 years. With the striker situation and everything else this owner has done prior. 2 years he gets for me.

Some jockers in here asking for his head.

Unless we're staring down the barrel of relegation I think he'll definitely get two years. When we sacked Silva we had delusions of us being a team that should be competing for Europa League football. Everyone knows anything above scrapping for our lives is an achievement this year.

Well you’re obsessing over the fat kopite. And like I’ve said on numerous times: Fat Sam, Fat Kopite and El Coco are the managers I didn’t want anywhere near the club

Try again

You’re right but I feel like that’s being used as a convenient excuse at the moment seeing as many of the defensive issues have had nothing to do with being under sustained pressure. Finding yourself defending a 3 on 1 from your own corner for example is not happening because we haven’t got a striker, it feels like people have got fixated on the striker situation and are just ignoring everything else.
It doesn’t make up for those issues, but it does make us more dangerous on the break when we are defending a lead. It gives the midfielders an out ball to relieve pressure or focal point for the attacks.

I get everyone is disappointed, but I’d have taken a point ahead of the game.

Tuesdays game at home is important though.

It’s fine lines so far this season.

Could have beaten Chelsea, could have beaten forest, drew against Villa , won today.

I think we are worth at least a couple more points tbf. That won’t make things any easier for Lampard though with our upcoming games and the longer we don’t win the harder it gets for him.

I really hope we get some quality in this week as I just don’t this is a side with enough quality to keep us up.

Standards and expectations have dropped since start of last year though - benitez would have been pillared for this start, Lampard will get more leeway but where benitez would have been expected to get a top half finish at the start of last season, many seem happy if Lampard gets us to 17th.
