Expectations should be low because the owner and board forced them to be really low. If people are upset they should protest against them. They have continued on this year like nothing happened last year and its a farce.

Believe me I’d take 16th place right about now. Another relegation battle wouldn’t represent progress for me, though.

The attack is light but the players we have available in defence and midfield are more than good enough to comfortably finish clear of relegation.

15th and above is my target and has been from day 1. I just want to see us stabalise and make a move in the right direction - even if it is only 1 position in the table

The 5 games we have after Wednesday will go a long way to dictating our season post Christmas

4 winnable league games and a winnable cup tie. Get 6 or 7 points and progression and we can hopefully avoid the heat of a relegation fight. Any talk of top half and Europe is extremely unhelpful.

You put 3 wins together...you're top 10. That's how the league works. Was only last week a win against United put us above the RS. And West Ham were about 2nd bottom who have now got level on points with us after 2 wins.

We're 4 points from top 7 and 3 points from bottom 3.

None of that is being questioned? I’m really not sure what point you’re making here, I was just commenting on the fact you appeared to be suggesting teams would need to go on a mad run to overtake us when it’s not the case. In theory at least, 3 of the teams you mentioned could have overtaken us by the end of today.

What do you thinks gonna happen if you have a day off defending every comment against Lampard? The club log on and see the comments and sack him?

Agreed. We need 3 wins in the next 5 imo.

Anything less and more people will question Lampard’s credentials moving forward and rightly so.

We dont need 9. It would be great. But 2 wins gets us well up the table.

And it would absolutely not be right for people to start questioning the manager more. It would show a lack of a sense of reality, unrealistic expectations, a lack of patience and a little bit of entitlement.

As I said, there’s no need to panic and I’m not talking about sackings etc, I’m just trying to be realistic about where we’re up to. Personally I think some people are overstating how much we’ve improved but the next few games are a good opportunity to prove me wrong and I’ll be made up if they do.

Leeds are playing a bang in form Arsenal today then Leicester on Thursday, we play Newcastle on Wednesday

Mate if we can’t get three wins from Newcastle, Palace, Fulham, Leicester and Bournemouth we are in deep trouble.
 

surely everyone can see we are just beginning the project under Lampard, defence and midfield has been sorted - stay in the league and get the attack right next season to push on again

Not ‘well on course’ really. That’s the point I’ve been trying to make. I agree with you that talk of the top half etc is way over the top and just staying clear of trouble would be fine. 16 points from 15 games is just about on course to do that though, it’s not really any more than that.
