2022/23 Frank Lampard

Negative football is acceptable when we win. But we don't look like winning a duel much less a game. Lampard has evaporated a decent start for us and he will have to win at least two of our next three if he wants to remain in charge, and he really only has himself to blame. I really do like him and want him to be a success but the owner has made it clear he wanted to replace him before. I fear his time might be running out. Hopefully we have more of an onus to attack on Saturday.

It's not though to some. See Big Sam and Carlo

It’s extremely dull.

But people are forgetting how bad it was under Benitez last season. Add to that we sold our best attacking player in the summer and our biggest chance creator in Digne 9 months ago.

It’ll take time. And I think Lampard deserves it.

Sense

Spurs away and Newcastle away (under the lights). Given the form of both teams the results are expected.
Fully agree that the results were expected, but, especially last night, it was the performance that was worrying. I have been and indeed still am firmly behind Lampard, but, he really needs to shake it up a bit. Garner deserves a chance and we just have no attacking threat with Coleman and Mykolenko as full backs. It would also do Gordon no harm whatsoever to be dropped for a few games.

We're in big trouble. Statistically, we are currently worse off than at the same point last season. Now, given how disastrously last season panned out, you would think we could hardly do as badly again. But this currently has the feel of a mad spiral where the manager starts to lose control of the narrative simply because if you can't keep clean sheets - we have had as many as we have had wins - and if you can't score goals, then you are destined for the drop zone. The more forgiving of the fanbase have written off the last three defeats as "expected". Not a great advert for their "faith" in the manager. But let's be charitable and assume it is a clear-eyed reading of the limitations of the current squad. If we lose again on Saturday, then I think the scales will drop from a lot of eyes.

Frank needs a win and quick.
In my opinion this run up to the WC is critical. I can let go of the last 3 games, not out of blind faith in the manager, just an honest appraisal of where we are at the moment. But we absolutely need to start picking up some points and performances from these next games.

Really needs a better forward line. The wingers are shocking but there's no replacements for him to bring on.

We have noone he can bring on to change a game. Garner is the only one I actually want him to bring on during games. Even though yesterday it was clear Gordon needed to go off.
When you say he needs a better forward line, what are you basing it off that he will be decent? He doesn't have a long career and we don't actually know what he can do with teams. I get he's a likeable bloke but that doesn't equal ability to manage

From the training videos he’s clearly coaching them to do the right things, but whether from lack of quality of confidence this lot just aren’t up to doing it right now. We’re being badly let down by wide players who create zilch for our striker or any mids arriving in the box.

Inappropriate Language
We all knew that these 3 games were going to be tough. Against United we were [Poor language removed] and deserved to lose, no arguments. Against Spurs we should have done better with the Onana and Gray chances and it may have been a different game, opportunity missed. Last night we were once again [Poor language removed] and deserved to lose. That's what is disappointing. You'd expect us to get beaten but the performances have been almost as if we expect it going into the game which isn't the right attitude. I still think Lampard is the right fit but this is now the real test for him. All of the games leading up to Christmas are against teams which will be hovering in the bottom half of the table so they are games you need to win if you don't want to be involved in a relegation battle again. They'll decide his future.

Lad they just beat a team with a £500m plus outlay, you’re carry-on here doesn’t sound too good..

We have spent that in 7 or 8 years yes. Most of it wasted.

But we were talking about Lampard V Howe. He has spent substantially, and Lampard has spent comparatively little.

For context, the 11 we put out last night cost around 110m. Under half what Howe has spent in the last 12 months.

This comparison only works if you calculate how much their side was last night.

So tiresome reading how bad he is every defeat, a few seem to have forgotten we had a seven match unbeaten streak and in the Premier league it's a hard thing to do. The only result that miffed more was Utd at home. The lack of shooting is a concern though but that's on the guys on the pitch, he can't hold their hands for them.

I will go as far as too say Gordon and Gray are the problems as their decision making in the final third is woeful and we just aren't getting it forward quick enough.
