This comparison only works if you calculate how much their side was last night.

To a degree yes.

The comparison is more to the 500m we have spent. We have got to let it go a bit really. The biggest chunk of that was spent half a decade ago and the majority of those players have gone.

This is not an expensively assembled team who gratuitously under performing as we saw for periods under the Moshiri reign. It's a team with a modest investment, probably slightly under performing but about where you might expect.

For comparison to Newcastle, their 11 cost more than ours too, by a reasonable distance as well.

So I do think a reality check is required.

well said

A "realistic" name for me is Thomas Fronk.

Think he's done a great job at Brentford - I thought he was living off Eriksen having a worldie season last year but he's carried on from where they left off without him.

Toney aside few of their players get in our starting 11 yet look at the difference in what you see on the pitch.

Seems a proper coach.

you and ste get a room

Things can nosedive very quickly. Failure to win either of the next two and the pressure is on him in earnest.

I hope that can be avoided.

Whilst this is the nature of football, I just can't stomach yet another manager and yet another coaching team, and having to start over from scratch yet again.

It doesn't bear thinking about.

No offence mate, but I cant believe anyone would think that. There were crosses played in across their 6 yard box tonight and there was no forward gambling to get on the end of them; and neither was there any aptitude by them to link up with players like Onana carrying the ball into the final third.

We need a playmaker maybe. But there is no way the two strikers we call on right now will get us out of this mess. They are dreadful.

we need both tho dave, it’s that area we need to get better

that’s why we’re sticking with lampard

One point above the drop zone tells me we need to right the nose of this plane pretty quickly.

In my opinion this run up to the WC is critical. I can let go of the last 3 games, not out of blind faith in the manager, just an honest appraisal of where we are at the moment. But we absolutely need to start picking up some points and performances from these next games.
it’s a one-off break point in the season, 16 games is it (?), and over a third of the season will be gone. If we’re not on at least 16 points, well, anything is possible with Moshiri at the helm. Palace, as it was last season, is massive.

Maupay has always played in a 2 up top in a flowing attack. We play him up top on his own.

Over reliant on Gray beating 9 men. Gordon is massively out of sorts and ineffective.

Supply line is not there. The set up doesn't accommodate a striker.

Will need tweaking. I think the fullbacks don't get involved enough for one

I think lampard is wise enough to know the last 3 games have been an utter shambles and he'll ring some changes against palace, the full backs can't continue they offer nothing.

I'd start both DCL and maupey, them wingers can't create nothing at the minute so give the striker support another way.

When you say he needs a better forward line, what are you basing it off that he will be decent? He doesn't have a long career and we don't actually know what he can do with teams. I get he's a likeable bloke but that doesn't equal ability to manage
I take it from what he has done in his career where he got his teams playing attacking football but all the criticism was that he couldn't organise a defence.

Except he has shown he can make a defence pretty solid with us. And when you have Gordon playing like he did yesterday, and Gray being the most inconsistent player I've seen in a long time, with an unfit DCL and limited options on the bench, it's not exactly a dangerous front line at the moment.
