Anyone with a trace of honesty regarded Newcastle away as a very hard game to get anything from, almost on a par with Spurs away. It the future clashes with teams around us in the bottom 8 which will be critical and will decide where we end up. January recruitment is important.

Not an easy game, expected us to have had more than 1 shot in 90 mins though. The performance was dire with what was essentially our first choice XI minus Patterson.

We’ve won 2 games in 11 this season mate.

Let's face it, we are in a relegation battle which could go all the way. Lampard has slightly improved us from last season, but nothing more. In fact, we are probably scoring less goals than last season. There aren't many good strikers we could go for in January, this should've been sorted out last summer. Same old, Same old.

Sadly this is where we are as a club right now. I have complete faith we will not be in a relegation battle this season and will probably finish about 12th-14th, I would have taken that at the start of the season.

We need continuity and Frank and his team are building solid foundations. Let's not forget how terrible we were last season. In the last three games we have lost we have not looked all over the place, the organisation is there, we will add goals soon. The league is still quite tight, put together a good run and who knows.

Who are the players we should have bought this summer? Available? Affordable? Would have made a difference?

Sorry mate don’t understand why we don’t include last season - we did sack Benitez based on his performance and results last season. Lampard shouldn’t get a free pass.

All those things you described have nothing to do with whether or not Lampard stays or goes. Stats decide whether a manager is doing well at the end of the day, to ignore them is foolish.

As you've point out... performances and results together.

A lot of people are just seeing the results and not the performances. Remove results from Benitez and look at the disastrous performances, being 2-3 down by half time, no fight, being rolled over, clueless stubborn tactics, and in fighting. This is with a 10 goal a season striker in Richarlison.

At the moment we're not being rolled over, we're difficult to play against, we've always been in the game. We're stronger, younger, more solid. We have a foundation and are a new team he's had 11 games with. There's a future.

We’ve played 3 of the 5 sides below us already and lost 1 drew 2.

Your level of content with how this season has gone so far is maddening. I hope you end up right, but next 4 games are huge.

Because it's the long 38 games, not 11, and he's had 1 actual transfer window.

8 games from half a season. Let's see what happens until then.

Expectation is to win every game. But nothing at this point of the season is a must. You just create unnecessary pressure.
We had this conversation the other day. There are very few 'must win' games at any stage of the season, but it's not difficult to understand that the longer you go without putting a good run of results together, the more pressure will build. 2 wins out of 11 isn't good, it's very much in 'questions are going to be asked' territory, at some point those questions have to be answered, by winning games and getting points on the board.

I can't stress enough, I would only sack Lampard if things look seriously dire, because I think more upheaval is the last thing we need. I don't agree with just constantly defending everything he does and making out like everyone who isn't convinced is a bedwetter though, because I think at the moment the best you can say about the job he's done overall is that it's 'OK'. There are positives for sure, and if he can put some good runs together then that will obviously change, but currently the narrative that he's doing a really special job is genuinely bizarre.

It was a tough game but our performance and attitude were not good enough. There was absolutely no urgency to get back in the game.

I take it from what he has done in his career where he got his teams playing attacking football but all the criticism was that he couldn't organise a defence.

Except he has shown he can make a defence pretty solid with us. And when you have Gordon playing like he did yesterday, and Gray being the most inconsistent player I've seen in a long time, with an unfit Dominic Calvert-Lewin and limited options on the bench, it's not exactly a dangerous front line at the moment.
Is our defence solid? We've the highest XG conceded in the league. Our wins have been scrappy through opposition teams hitting the post
